An area to discuss scenery addons for virtual NZ

Postby Lapun » Tue Jan 18, 2011 6:42 pm

Hot off the ORBX press:

"Update: Most airports have already been updated, and Matt Tomkins is in NZ as we speak doing a South Island location visit and also taking 1,000s of photos of vegetation, rocks and general terrain features. Texture work will begin later this month and then the landclass work will be the next step. We expect to ship NZSI by xmas, and maybe ever sooner. I am waiting on Matt to give me an estimate of the time he'll take on the texture work.

Once Martin Henare has finished YMEN Essendon, he'll be starting work on NZQN Queenstown airport also"

Can't wait!! biggrin.gif

Hmm, maybe I shouldn't have announced that the first VLC payware airport project would be Queenstown:) It isn't often that we get a choice of local airports, so it'll be interesting to see how this works out.

I do like a bit of warning ... plenty of time to save up for that new PC laugh.gif

NZ is such a photogenic country to do FS scenery for - how can ORBX fail? !! I'm always amazed at the amount of work that goes into *any* add-on - be it scenery or aircraft models. Kiwis should consider themselves lucky that so many people (at all levels) want to re-create Aoteroa for us. This includes all the "little" guys as well New_Zealand_etc.gif

Where have you people been hiding? I regularly fly a Brit from Aus to NZ and back with FSEconomy. Every time I go over and struggle to get her into Queenstown I curse Aces for ignoring some of the most beautiful scenery in the world. I own everything FSX has released this side of the Date Line plus PNW. But there is no way I can wait another 12 months. So I have purchased the FSX Collections and Supercity. Can't wait to fly over again tomorrow.

Tizz only going to get better , with VLC and many other projects , New Zealand is going to be huge ! but small , an area you cannot get board in , from VFR to IFR , and multiplays to really make it fun.

Drool ... smile.gif I have to confess that I have already installed ILS at most of the NZ airports as I fly according to real time and weather and you people are a long way (time wise) from me (YMUL) at this time of year.

Queenstown sounds like very nice addon after seeing orbx's other scenery i can't wait to test the area against visual navigation charts using a locally painted chopper and see if the land marks are in the right spot or if i can identify them tongue.gif as the queenstow area is my favorite hangout is flight sim x
