My resignation as administrator

Read and report on flightsim developers progress of upcoming or completed products

Postby toprob » Mon Nov 08, 2010 2:13 pm

From today I've quit my role as NZFF administrator. Once the other admin team confirm that I'm not leaving anything undone, I'll have them remove my admin status. In the meantime although I'll still show as an administrator, I will not be dealing with any admin tasks.

I will remain on as a member, and hopefully continue to moderate my own support forum.

I am really very proud of NZFF, Trolly's little forum has defied the odds, not only surviving and flourishing but has grown well beyond my initial expectations. A lot of forums have come and gone, and I'm sure that a lot of FS folk have discovered that it isn't as easy as it would seem to make something like this work.

I've met some great people here, some real characters, and even though my role means that I need to get grumpy with them officially now and then, it doesn't mean that personally I don't admire and like them... I'd actually like to become one of these normal members, and I don't think I'll be happy until I've had more than my share of deleted posts, and warnings.

Sorry to spring this on the other admin, I did promise they'd have more time but things have come to a head today which have made my job here impossible.

I'm sure that NZFF will be around for a long long time, please treat it well.

Thank you for providing your services to this great community!

Having some knowledge on a few of the recent events, I can understand how stepping away would be a psychologically healthy action at this point, but it's sad to see you resign in any case.

Yes sorry Robin i should have shown in the past a lot more support for you ,thus why i stood down and back away myself from the forum modding.
i actually like it here on the otherside of the fence without the hassles of dramas unfolding all the time ,this way i can just work and say it somebody else s problem now ,in this case it was mainly you that was this somebody else ..
Im very sorry Robin that you have had to deal with my bad mood swings every now again over the last couple of years ,it seems im on the right meds now and are acting pretty normal biggrin.gif ..

anyway if it means anything thank you ..

Sorry to hear you're bowing out, Robin. I hope it's nothing to do with this latest copyright spat that's been going on - which could only be adding to your workload sad.gif

Frankly, we should all be very appreciative of anyone that's prepared to do all this work on our behalf. That NZFF is such a friendly place and has kept its nose clean is largely due to their efforts.

I've always enjoyed your strictly "no-nonsense" approach here - as well as your enthusiasm and input into the screenshot competitions - thank you!

Sorry to read the news but we understand that there are good reasons for the decision. Sad to see that a long-termer is stepping aside, but thanks for all that you have done as administrator up to now

best wishes

smooth landings.

Hey, I included you here:

Both you are Charl spring immediately to mind. Believe me, I'd rather have 10 like you two on the forum to deal with rather than the couple of crazies at the moment.

Many thanks Robin. I appreciate your efforts in administering these very well run and sensibly moderated forums.
It is a shame that a few are allowed to spoil it for the many.

Cheers
Steve

Remember the 50-50-90 rule. Anytime you have a 50-50 chance of getting something right, there's a 90% probability you'll get it wrong!

Thanks for taking responsibility for what is a considerable effort and usually a thankless job as admin Robin. Totally understandable given recent goings on that you feel its time to share the love wub.gif tongue.gif

As a glass half-full sort of view this sort of change can be good for a forum, its healthy to have a change of leadership once in awhile, as long as the spirit of the community continues, which I'm sure it will. Theres a solid enough core here of regular posters to keep momentum (and sanity) in check as much as possible. The other positive thing re you stepping down is hopefully you'll have a little more time to spare now on your own excellent add-ons, and the collaboration you do with others, without which virtual NZ would be a very dull place.

Thanx mate. thumbup1.gif

Very sorry to see you pushed into this situation I would have added my comments earlier but was so gobsmacked at what was going on I just couldn't find the right words all I can say is I hope that the next Administrator does as good a job as you have done and that you enjoy being on the other side now.

Been away for a week or so, sad to see this on my day back.
I will echo everyone's sentiments about how much your efforts here are appreciated. And the need to pass the reigns on to another to look after for whatever reason is completely understandable.
Again, thanks for everything and will look forward to seeing you remain here in these forums as a member smile.gif
