Going on a South Island trip with a few other 172's this week, cruising down to Queenstown via Nelson to do a mountain flying course with Wakatipu Aeroclub- is there any where of interest that local pilots can recommend?

Also, if are local CHCH spotters are out, look out for a flock of us around midday Thursday if the weathers good on the east coast!

If you can, the Nelson Lakes area is fantastic to fly around. Spectacular scenery on a good day.

Hey all.

Just thought I'd let you guys know that I passed my CPL Flight Test this week. I was pretty happy with my overall performance - somethings could have been better (FLWOP!) but all in all..............

It certainly feels like there's a weight been lifted, of course the weight will be straight back on when I decide to start a C-Cat winkyy.gif

Cheers

Well done cool.gif Now all we need is an old 'Herc' painted up in a NZFF scheme , then be able to fly the members up and down the country with Captain 'Feend' at the controls smile.gif

Thanks, well done as well - feels good doesn't it. Out of interest are they issuing the new credit card style cards as standard now?
I went down the student loan route - in my opinion, if you can get one, it makes no financial sense not to do it this way.......

Sweet.

I'm going to go with the C-Cat next and then do an IR as and when I need it.......

Good luck.

Yea I still feel the same, They split us up into two groups (C Cat and MEIR) I asked if I could do C cat then come back for MEIR later on when I need too but they said NMIT was really hot on that and won't allow it now, so who knows what I will be doing first.

The ride over the alps was actually perfectly smooth, the headwind was annoyingly strong but QN tower was open late due to a late departing ATR so it worked out great, we got there at 6.30pm smile.gif

Were you the x-country instructor who gave us the briefing?

Uploaded a ton of pics on the book of faces, definitely the most enjoyable flying I've ever done: http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=2473...mp;l=793f8d8949

I'm not an authority, however I'd check that with NMIT. I've heard it said and been told enough times now that these FT establishments are there for themselves not for you. Student loan or not, it's your money and YOU decide what you spend it on - I can't imagine NMIT demanding you do one course and not another - I can, on the other hand, imagine a FT establishment making you do this to suit their ends and blaming it on the 'provider'. Personally, I'd check. It's a lot of money and time to spend on something you might not want to do just yet. "NMIT was really hot on that and won't allow it now" - there's no requirement to have an MEIR to instruct!

Great pix Andy.

Nah I was upstairs in the lounge 'studying' for PPL Air Law.
Great pics, my fave is the Lake Ohau / Cherokee one. (btw that's Westport not Greymouth)

Cheers for the Westport correction, I've updated the caption, and a huge congratulations on your first solo Syncop8r! Massive achievement, I still remember mine like it was yesterday!

The professional level of skill you guys aquire training at an international airport like that must really boost your training! Congrats once again! thumbup1.gif

And also a big well done to you HercFeend on the CPL! If you don't mind sharing, what sort of hours since you began training in NZ did you achieve this in? I've got my CPL cross country flight test around the corner and its interesting to gauge how long its taken different pilots from different establishments to achieve this.
