Hey I'm looking at getting the Phoenix dash 8.

Is it any good? and would it be worth getting. Plus is there a air NZ paint for it.

Cheers Dazza.

Can't comment on what it is like (I understand it is good but a bit long in the tooth) but check out my pinned thread of payware a/c with NZ markings here- there is a Air NZ one available on Avsim.

I have the PSS Dash, and have had it for a couple of years. Very nice plane, with one of the nicest cockpits you'll come across, especially at night. Flies nicely, but the model isn't the greatest. It might have been once, but it doesn't look right when comparing it with the current bird Air Nelson are flying. I think the engines and nose wheel don't look right. But, if you are wanting to fly a detailed Dash cockpit, with what I can only assume is a good cockpit systems simulation, then it's a good choice. I've heard the Majestic Dash 8 is nicer, but I don't want to spend that kind of money... As Naki said, the PSS Dash is a little dated now, but at the time I got it, there wasn't a better choice.
I have the Premier Dash installed as well. Using a PMDG B1900 airfile, and a personally modified aircraft cfg. It's terrible to fly otherwise  Though I like the model better than PSS.

There is a pretty good one out there from someone else.
It is much more recent than the PSS contribution.

well it is cheap at the moment, pss have dropped the prices on most of their products, 10 euros at our exchange rate at the moment, works out not to bad for me
In the ongoing battle between objects made of aluminum going hundreds of miles per hour and the ground going zero miles per hour, the ground has yet to lose.

Hi all......... I've been looking at adding a Dash 8 Q300 to my FS9 hangar for sometime but am a little frustrated. The Majestic product looks great but is far too expensive and will most likely not work with my simpit hardware due to the way its modelled. I have the PSS Dash and its a great model but I find the textures are simply terrible. The freeware PAD and Dreamwings aircraft don't cut it for me either.

So my question, if I manage to get hold of the freeware Majestic Air Nelson textures, is it possible to simply cut and paste the textures to fit the PSS paintkit to give me the definition I'm after?? To that end, can anyone PM me with the Majestic Air Nelson repaint as GJSMITH.NET seems to be down and it's not hosted on the other common FS websites?!?!?

I have no experience with aircraft repaints so any thoughts would be appreciated.

Cheers,
MAT

Yup, thats the one I bought but Justflight don't offer repaints for it, and both the PSS and GJSMITH websites are down!! dry.gif For the most part I'm happy with it - its just that the textures look a bit cartoonish when compared with other payware products. For example, the panel lines are just very thick grey lines, there's no screw or rivet definition and the panel fasteners are just grey rectangles. That's why I want to get hold of the Majestic Air Nelson repaint - I figure that way I can just paintshop the textures across and make it look heaps better!! winkyy.gif

Cheers,
Mat

Okay?? Thats weird because I still can't get into the site!! It must be something to do with my browser........ I'll change a few settings to see if it works, otherwise I'll grab it while I'm at work on Sunday. Thanks Naki!!

Yup - it was IE8!! Changing settings didn't work so I just used a free Proxy Viewer and managed to get everything I need......... Cheers again Naki!!

Those custom skins look REAL Good, however the model is very old and if you can hang on a bit longer, PMDG is in the middle of doing a Dash 8 with full systems modeling. I'm sure it will worth waiting for.

I guess it'll only be released for FSX, but I'll probably get it anyway for my 'standby' FS PC - my simpit is only running FS9 at the moment. I'm having some stability issues with the Nvidia Surround drivers which need to be sorted out so I can get back on Vatsim, then I'll look at moving everything to FSX!!
