Here's a copy of a very generous offer I received via email recently:

Good evening,

I am contacting you regarding an opportunity that you and your online community might be interested in.

We have recently re-launched Fly A Jet after pulling away from the Flight Experience brand, and to get ourselves out in the community (both online and physically) I would like to extend an offer for a night of simulator use for any of your Auckland based Flight Simulator members. As we are no longer part of the Flight Experience network, this will only be applicable for the Auckland branch (located in Takapuna on the North Shore).

Dates will be flexible, but we would like to run a single night at this stage. We would like to offer your members the chance to use the simulator for a dual 30 minute flight for $55 per pilot. Pilots can then team up (maybe through your forums) as a captain / co-pilot team. This way the rate of $110 per 30 minutes will be split between two people. The evening would be run as a social event, and encouragement will be made to get people to stick around, mix and mingle. With that price, and instructor will be provided to simply sit in the back of the simulator to get the team going. Once operational, the instructor will pretty much leave them to it, with just the occasional check up on progress, and time checking. This event is also a great way to get inspiration on how to progress their own flight simulators further, and how to operate these machines more realistically by talking to our instructors and using some of the authentic Boeing manuals, etc.

Fly A Jet will lay on soft drinks, and will basically let the simulator be run for your members only from 6pm until whenever we have flown with all members.

The member will also be given the opportunity to choose from all of the same 24,000 locations from around the World that Microsoft Flight Simulator has to offer.

If this is something that interests you, and your members, please do not hesitate to contact me back, and we can get some plans in place.

We also have the Flyboys Pilot Shop on our premises who sell pilot gear and simulator gear. This will also be a good opportunity to get this exposed to your members.

Hope to hear from you soon,
Kind regards,

Liam Brown

Its a great opportunity for a simming get together for those of us in the Auckland region. I'm going to suggest the evening of Saturday 6th November for the first event- Liam has told me that if it is successful, we will be able to do it 'a growing, regular occurrence'!

Please post here to confirm whether you will be attending, then I will pass the guest list back on to Liam in 1 weeks time.

Remember, for a 30 minute flight its just $55 per pilot with an instructor in the right hand seat, then afterward, you can team up with another mate/forum member to be your co-pilot and split the cost of captain of $110 for half an hour with them, which again would make it $55!

Wow nice of them to offer that, I really miss the days before Flight Experience at their workshops we were the envy of all of NZ smile.gif

Really pleased to see that Fly A Jet is offering this plan. Now I've found one good reason to live in Auckland smile.gif

A generous offer ... though it appears $110 is the "damage" for the evening. Sadly, a wee bit out of my budget ... but I may just tag along for a "looksee"!
