Increasing AI Traffic

An area to discuss scenery addons for virtual NZ

Postby wairoaboy » Mon Sep 06, 2010 1:15 am

Hi everyone. I have searched up and down on various sites and it all seems a tad confusing. Is there a simple way to increase trafic volume with FS9 with default and AI add ons? Gets very lonely flying around rural New Zealand after awhile tongue.gif

Funny you should mention that..

I was surprised by the same thing, after Sim emigrating from the California Pacific Coast, where the AI traffic is overwhelming, set at <50%, both in the air and on the ground!
With all my Default, FS 2004 AI Traffic set to 100% in NZ, the AI traffic seem to be practically non-existent.... blink.gif...!
The Mid North Island is very deserted!

Its just me and the Tower chatting to each other, during ATC Flight Following... laugh.gif ...!

Maybe there is not much aircraft activity in NZ?

My AI for NZ:

All World of AI packages (WOAI).....(includes Air New Zealand and ARNZ regional partners.) Speaking domestically, you'll see Beech 1900s, Saab 340s, and ATR 72s hitting many NZ airports around the country. Add to that the ARNZ jetliners at the larger fields and any international arrivals at places such as Auckland, and you're set with the majors.

"The Great New Zealand AI Project" (Needs HTAI Cessnas payware package)
gnzlapre.zip @ flightsim.com

The AI project makes the largest difference! It's amazing and really fills up the skies with accurate GA traffic based on the real world! Also includes the third level operators such as Sunair and the Mt. Cook tour operators!

If you're not fazed by a little work you can use TTOOLS, which is a freeware program which decompiles, edits, and recompiles the TRAFFIC.BGL file which contains the flightplan definitions for AI traffic. You can add, ammend and delete when an aircraft departs or arrives, the altitude they fly at, how often etc etc etc. Its easy enough to use and once you get used to the format of the file you'll quickly be able to beef up the NZ AI traffic!! Also, using TTOOLS you can use ANY aircraft in your hangar........ not just AI ones - but you have to keep framerates in mind given flyable models are often more detailed than AI models.

As Sean mentions above, World of AI and also ProjectAI are alternatives which require no 'programming' or file modifications as such. They have aircraft liveries and flightplans for download for all the major carriers of NZ. If you search FlightSim.com or AVSIM you can also find realworld NZ flightplans which you can use.

Hope this helps,
Mat

For those who haven't already discovered this, in my opinion it was probably the best addon program in terms of enjoyment, that I have added.

I run this both in FS9 and FSX.....in places like Kerikeri and Kaitaia I can expect to see between 2 and 8 planes depending of course on the time of day.

Go and get it now, and it's free - Tks Charl.

WOAI fills in enough commercial stuff for me.

Like Wairoaboy, I'm still confused as to why New Zealand, in FS 2004, shows so little, (if any), default, AI Traffic sad.gif ...!

Even with mine set at 100% I hardly get any GA and Commercial AI showing up, either on the ground, or in the air!

Where is this link to the free-bee, AI Traffic, add-on again, which contains everything that is necessary to increase the NZ, AI Traffic?

My FS 2004 California Sim Flights are positively dangerous, (at anything above 50% Traffic), surrounded on all sides by AI Aircraft, especially during VFR/IFR Flight Following!... blink.gif ...!

...I need some company, during my NZ flights!... smile.gif ...!

Best way to increase your AI flights is to just use the AI Packages available around the web and do it manually.I spent a fair while as Beta Test team leader for Project AI and (Prior to my pc wipe) had 9 million AI Flights a week including military. There are plenty of help topics regarding just how to do this but programmes like TTools2 are a great start. Also closer to home AI projects like the GNZLAIP will definatley fill you skys. Building your own AI will take a while but is totally worth it.

If you have any questions or queries about building your own AI, drop me a message, I'm more than happy to help in this area...

Good Luck

No worries Owen. There have been a few changes to the NZ BizJet lineup since that was released, I really need to get back to some repainting and update it rolleyes.gif

Ta for the heads-up, Lawrie!.... thumbup1.gif ...!

http://fs-snowman.com/index.php?ind=downlo...file=gnzlap.zip

This looked like it would fit my bill for GA Aircraft, but the attempt to download the file came back with the a blank page, and the report: "Download Failed"... sad.gif ...!

At the moment I am using "Worldga" Traffic-GAweekly.bgl, which seems? to increase the overall traffic, very slightly.

I still cant figure out why Microsoft put less effort into the NZ AI Traffic than they did with the USA AI Traffic?
Its particularly noticeably when using VFR/IFR Flight Following radio navigation. Very sparse on the ground, and in the air!
