Argus (CP-107)

Discuss aircraft addons and repaints for Flight Simulator here

Postby Splitpin » Thu Aug 19, 2010 2:34 pm

Time to pick the collective forum brains again.......do you know (i havent searched as yet) if there is an Argus for fs9 or fsx.

Many years ago, i think there was one for 98 or 2000. Wonderful aircraft......remember them and the RAF Nimrods at one "Fincastle" at whenuapai ....huge things.

Cheers and beers

Sorry, no. It does remind my somewhat of a Shackleton, though...

Thanks anyway IB. Yes she is a little shack like. Amazing to think that they replaced Lancasters, and i think they were still operational up untill the mid 80's when the Aurora (CP-140) took over.
I feel really privileged to have seen/heard and looked through one, and would love to have one for the sim.

Found a couple of links to models that had been started....but then nothing ........oh well....google google.... smile.gif

I have not run across one at SimV. I'm a member there, so I'll ask for you in their forums right now.

Have you tried BINGing it? I find the BING results are usually better than Google, except for technical computer hardware stuff (although it is still pretty good even then). Just a thought... rolleyes.gif

I found an Argus!...thanks to SeanTK thumbup1.gif The designer is an engineering officer in the RCAF,(also an aviation artist) and he kindly sent me all the files. Im having a few problems with the textures being all blurry on the port side and the over wing roundels..and panel..but I'll ask him about that later.

I'll keep you posted

Thanks again for the info Sean thumbup1.gif

Thanks Adrian....I'll screenshot the other side so you see what Im talking about.I dont really want to bother Rob (the designer) again, as he kindly offered quite a bit of support already.

Nice looking rendition!
Although the prop hubs seem a little too tiny to me...

Does the author intend a public release?

And is the blur issue already cured?
Omitting the mipmaps via DXTBMP often does the trick...

Cheers,
Markus.

Thanks Markus....mate, i dont know my mips from my maps.......I'll see what i can do. Otherwise I'll seek you and Adrian out for help.
Im not sure if he's going to release it not.... seems like a good guy (very busy)so like the rest of you gurus, i guess this is WIP, and he just asked that i didn't distribute it.

He can be reached here " planesandtrains@gmail.com " his name is Rob.

thanks Marty, no I appreciate his wishes for it not to be distributed as things can snowball rapidly,..I think for any more of us to pester him further might be foolish I'll just be patient and hope he will make it available sometime in the (not too distant lol) future smile.gif . Either you can find a program called DXTBMP on Simviation.com or send the bmps to me and ill remove the mips and send em back to ye..
