G'day One and All,
First post, so treat me gently.
The add on scenery for FSX is starting to look quite impressive, and we're fortunate to have the versatile and long life Msoft flight sim that can handle it, together with the ever improving techo stuff to drive it, not to mention the dedicated people who develop the scenery, be they freeware and/or payware producers.
The other thing which helps us enjoy this hobby (or mania as the case may be) is that we have the choice of trying any scenery which comes along, keeping what we like or ditching the other.
Personally, I have been impressed by ORBX Australian scenery because it looks like the real country it depicts, and let's hope any NZ scenery they produce does the same, but if it doesn't the word will spread and any better scenery will prevail - time will tell.
The success or failure of scenery is in the eye of the beholder, and part of the enjoyment for me is picking out which looks good on my equipment, then flying it low and slow, no matter who produced it.
I haven't done much simming around NZ, mainly because the default doesn't go anywhere near depicting your wonderful country as it really is, so I have high hopes for both VLC and ORBX to come up with something good and take it from there. It will be great if they are both good products and we can switch between the two.
Happy simming, Lapun
