NZNP Photoreal not working so well...

Hi there,

I finaly downloaded all the sfuff i need for photo real scenery of New Plymouth, this one, http://nzff.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=6159

But after i activate it, it says to edit the entry in the scenery.cgf file in the main FSX folder, and past the flattend stuff in there, , but i cant find the entry.
So now i have some awesome hill right in the middle of the runway, which make it a bit interesting when landing,

Oh yeah, also one of the default buildins is still there, and it sits right in the middle of the car park, so if anyone could help me out with this one, that could be great.

If you want some screenies of it, ill upload them for you

Thanks,
Dion

I think this is a FS2004 scenery, so I'm not sure that it works in FSX. You can give it a go, though, and let us know how you get on.

The working location of scenery.cfg in FSX is:
\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\FSX
...so you should find your scenery entry there. Bear in mind that this type of flatten goes back to FS2000, and is obsolete now, but maybe it still works in FSX. Nowadays all flattens are BGL-based.

I do remember seeing in one post he was changing it all to FSX, ill try and find it

[EDIT] Well, it got rid of that building that was sitting in the middle of the carpark, but not the hills yet, ill keep going through the readme, see if i forgot/missed anything, and i cant find that post of him saying he will change it to FSX yet.

So maby its another scenery i have that is interfering with it, ill deactivate all my other scenery and have a look

[EDIT] Well i deactivated all my other scenery, and removed the flattend line, that didnt really seem to do anything, and it still didnt work, so i had a play around with my scenery settings, and it went a bit crazy.

[EDIT x2] Well i worked out what the problem was, it said to copy the NZNP AFCAD file to the the world scenery file, but when i removed that, it came right, but now i cant get rid of the stupid building in the middle of the carpark, it is from the default NZNP scenery in FSX, but now when i put the Excude and Flattened lines into where it says, the whole runway goes with it, but it leaves the buildings, so i think i will just have to deal with it.

Thanks anyway

I have no idea how to edit scenery, but if someone could tell me, or remove that building for me, that would be great, it gets really annoying seeing it there every time i turn final.

[EDIT final] Well, i decided to just have a play around with the exclude thing, and, somehow, it worked out so that the awefull building is gone, now i can really enjoy the New Plymouth scenery.
I still have no idea how or why it worked, but it did, so thats the important thing.
Now all i need is to wait for someone to do some nice scenery for New Plymouth, and maby find a nice Navajo, with our Air Ambulance repaint, and gas around NP in it.

Anyway, thanks for the help, if someone is having the same problem and cant work it out, i would be happy to help out

Regards,
Dion (a much happier simmer)

Your problems are all due to what Rob said above,........... I built that scenery for FS9 (FS2004) ONLY.
FS9 flattens ( either BGL or CFG entries) DONT work in FSX.
FS9 Excludes DONT work in FSX, hence the default building in the middle of the carpark.
Fear not, i am now building for FSX, and the first two sceneries are almost complete,.........
NZNP New Plymouth
NZNR Napier.

I use Lawries NP scenery in FSX and it works nicely,..had to make a new AFD BGL file which included me putting a flatten command in it. If you want it PM me with email and ill send it to you which should get it going until Lawrie releases his new FSX versions . Thankyou Lawrie you are a champ notworthy.gif
