NZMJ Martin's Bay problem

An area to discuss scenery addons for virtual NZ

Postby ZK-LGD » Fri Jul 30, 2010 12:30 pm

Anyone else having a problem getting Godfrey Tier's Martins Bay scenery to load in FS9? Get to anywhere between 45-53% (loading terrain) and then FS just freezes.

Am able to load the default FS9 flight, Godfrey's NZRC, any of a hundred saved flights ... just not this scenery. dry.gif

Enquiring minds 'n all.

Dorian

Dorian , Select all saved flights , put them into a folder independent from your saved flights , so if you want to go back to any one off them , start a new flight from the closes point to NZMJ and that should fix the prob , seems to be a glitch sometimes with many saved flights .

Unfortunately, no solution from me either, as ive had absolutely no problem with it at all in FS9.
Even had a play around with it in FSX, and got it working ok there too.

Unfortunately, no; deleting all saved flights did not work.

The problem lies with the Milford Sound area refusing to load (beyond 49%), and because Martins Bay is only 14nm away, this scenery is also affected.

Suspect it's a rogue AFCAD somewhere... so, have unchecked the folder they're kept in.

No luck there. Even the default Milford Sound would not load.

Have now removed all AFCAD from Scenery/World/Scenery and unchecked ALL NZ scenery, with the exception of NZMF and NZMJ.

Success, both MF and MJ load, no problems.

Now, to add all NZ sceneries one at a time to see where the problem lies. Looks like a long weekend of testing ahead. Bugga!

LoL!

Success!!! The "culprit" was Norm Shieffelbien's NZ Wave set (the sixth scenery file to be re-activated).

The West Coast portion of this scenery runs from just north of Greymouth down to Jackson Bay and I suspect the wave motion does not want to play nicely with the NZMJ LWM or VTTP.bgls (as there has not been a problem with this particular scenery, in this area ... until now). I have, however, had trouble with Norm's wave scenery before just after NZMC was released (a set of missing texture .bmps caused a CTD). This is one reason why I chose to re-activate this scenery early on just to see if it was the cause.

Pity I have to loose the waves; at least the Sutherland Falls file plays nicely, so that's something.

Oh...that's a relief. I was a bit worried there that my scenery was causing headaches.

Nope; working just fine now. And thanks for a great little Fiordland scenery; might even get me to release Caswell Arms Hut one of these days. biggrin.gif
