FSX Marl

The official REAL NZ support forum

Just downloaded FSX Marl and FSX Tauranga & Rotorua.
Tauranga & Rotorua no problems, but looks like Marl zip could be corrupted ohmy.gif
RealNZMarlborough
|-------------Scenery
|-------------Texture
Addon Scenery
|-------------Scenery
Scenery
|-------------World
|----------------Scenery
The tree above shows three folders.
I have downloaded twice and each time the middle folder "Add on -Scenery is non existant dry.gif
The other folders are there ie:RealNZMarlborough and Scenery but not addon scenery folder.
Subsequently when I approach Woodbourne or try to start outside aircraft at NZWB FSX crashes angry.gif

I did a re-install to another folder and same result, only the RealNZmarl folder and the Scenery folder show, there is no addon scenery folder??
Switched off Norton and downloaded again and repeated the process, still no addon scenery folder?
Not sure how to proceed from here?

I did try coyping the files from the scenery world folder and added them to addon scenery and this stopped the ctd but left me with whiteout runway.
Any ideas?

Can you just let me know the steps you take to install? Do you install directly to FSX? If you are ending up with a new Scenery\World folder, then you are probably installing to the wrong place.

Do you have FSX's SPs installed?

Don't worry about the Addon Scenery folder for Marlborough, there won't be one. There is in FS2004, but not in FSX.

The file from Scenery\World\Scenery is a tiny AFCAD-type file which is there just to fix the problem with FSX when the elevation is changed, and the AI are placed before the custom facilities file is read -- this extra file is designed to be read before the AI is placed, and stops the AI starting at the wrong elevation.

The problem could be a duplicate facilities file. This is tricky to track down, but they generally come with something like an AI traffic addon -- if you have installed anything like that, then let me know and I'll run you through a solution.

EDIT: one thing which springs to mind if putting the extra file in Addon Scenery\Scenery helps -- put the version which came from Scenery\World\Scenery back where it came from, and move the one from RealNZmarl\Scenery into Addon Scenery\Scenery. It should be called AF2_NZWB.bgl

Thanks, I do run My Traffic X version 53.
This has no effect on any of your other scenerys though.
I have checked if a NZWB is present and its not.

The initial install was direct to FSX folder no changes to directory, the next install was to another folder outside FSX so I could see what was being installed.

I removed the complete install No.1 and reinstalled again as per installer defaults.
I tried your suggestion to put the AF2 bgl into addon scenery but ctd followed as soon as I left cockpit for outside view.

Thanks, that makes sense. It would be worth checking out My Traffic X, just to see if it installed a file for NZWB. It says on their website 'The AI capabilities of 1800 airports are enhanced in this package,' so I wonder if NZWB is one of them. Not too likely, I suppose, but it would be worth checking wherever My Traffic installs these files.
Apart from that, I'm not too sure why this could be happening -- I've had a quick look through the forum, but I can't find anything similar.

EDIT: One thing which caught my eye on the MTX website is that it includes military traffic, so it is very possible that NZWB is included.

Just adding my two cence, when I had Traffic X installed, I had to remove it from the NZ mill airports such as NZWB, NZOH, NZWP. So I imagine you need to remove it smile.gif

I have Traffic X installed and have had no problems with any of NZ Mill airport So is it Traffic X or something else that conflicts with Traffic X for those airports?

I've since had an email from tesza saying that this was solved by changing the priority of the Real NZ scenery, so all fixed now.
