Yes - I've spotted a fair few "ghost images" underneath static planes etc. Does spoil the effect somewhat

Ok. Myself, I prefer real 3D over flat "fakes" - makes a bit of work for the PC, but real cars tend not to be flat...

I would be happy to do it for you if you send me the file: I've got Photoshop 7 and am pretty good at cloning out unwanted things: even down to power lines and such... Let me know. Same goes for anyone else developing scenery with photoreal - I'm happy to oblige with the good old clone tool!
A really good point, this really does come down to the individual developer, which is kind of supported by the comments here. There is a range of choices, from leaving everything in to cleaning everything up. I normally do a bit of work on high resolution images, especially things which can't be 'hidden' by a 3D object -- static aircraft for instance.
Another aspect of this is shadows -- I like to remove major ground shadows, but others have a completely different objective -- Orbx not only leaves shadows in, but draws shadows where they don't exist, so that their scenery cannot really be used with shadows turned on. This gives lovely screen shots -- there's some stunning shots of sun-dappled roads, for instance -- but it does have some drawbacks -- first, they remain the same whatever the weather and time of day, and secondly they will never be able to reproduce the sharp sunburnt look of a New Zealand airport, almost completely unprotected by an ozone layer:)
I prefer to rely on FSX's ability to create shadows, even with the appropriate performance hit.

I'm a perfectionist
Heh heh - nice to know there are a few of us around! I don't live in the Masterton area, but if there is anything I can do to help, let me know. My wife was born there, so I have a small affinity with the area. I haven't got any specific skills at making scenery, but if there is any "grunt" work like using Photoshop for image editing and the like, I'm happy to pitch in. As time progresses and I begin to get a handle on how all this scenery creation works, I'll begin to try my own hand and may be of more help to the rest of you doing the heavy lifting at that point... I guess having a "willing to help" attitude is a start tho, eh?

But I'm not sure about the Vintage Aviator Hanger?
Actually they're all in the big one with the OS&R company logo on top...

Nick , Photoreal with VLC ! blend the two together and you will have a winning scenery
