An area to discuss scenery addons for virtual NZ

If you are into flightsim development at all, then you are probably a fan of Arno at FSDeveloper.com. Arno is also a Microsoft MVP, a kind of unpaid support person for Microsoft. It was actually the MVP programme which got me involved in flightsim a long time ago.

Anyway, Arno has aMVP blog site here, and this morning I saw his announcement of NL2000 for FSX. NL2000 was a huge project for FS2000, and it was one of the things which triggered my interest in developing scenery for NZ. You can see the beginnings of Godzone via the Wayback Machine, the web archive site. Here's the earliest Windowlight FS site as it appears at Archive.org.

The left link 'a healthy obsession' actually mentions NL2000, which back then was a huge 50MB, almost unheard of in the days of dial-up. I notice that the latest version is 32GB, which is still a bit mind-blowing...

By the way, some images no longer exist on Archive.org, so here's the NL2000 image missing from my article...

Mmm, 7.8 frames per second, lovely...
