I've just read a book called "Spitfire Women" (about female ferry pilots on WWII) where it says that Alex Henshaw's favourite trick in a Spit was to fly inverted at 50ft till the engine stopped ... then roll it back up!

Correct, I'm Slowly working my way through the Century series of Lancs, Just waiting or a new book to turn up (Ton-up Lancs), and I'll start up again. I've been given an other pet project to do at the moment.
