Just added a comment on your posting @ VASK letting them know you're a respectable block to be dealing with mate thumbup1.gif

I imagine that if any of the Auckland VASKers take it, it will be cut n shut into a circuit car though... There's been a sudden influx of VR6's on TM in the last few weeks - a couple of stunners, and one or two that make yours look like a top-shelf example!

Best of luck with the sale smile.gif

(Oh and if a chap on VASK that goes by the name of VAG_nutter tries to buy it, steer clear... bit of a con artist ninja.gif )

Trading up eh? tongue.gif

$700 is spot on for a clutch job, however I would do it for $200 and some painkillers (popping the clutch slave out on these is a pig of a job - you have to sit on the leading bulkhead, and using 3 left hands, 2 rights and a foot, try to open the circlip which is hidden from sight and apply pressure on the slave) dry.gif

Hope it finds a good home mate!

Yeah I'll be earning this year so I'm keen to get something a bit newer and quicker, probably a Legacy RS or some kind of Nissan RB. Replacing the clutch master cylinder was enough for me- I'm hardly a mechanic haha. Do you have any bits around for my 33 that you're keen to sell? Looking for rear spoiler, Series 2 style tail lights (with clear indicators) and maybe some lower springs. Not really expecting her to sell for that price, just seeing what interest I get.

Check the pick-a-part website, there's a link to each of the yards (there's one down your way) and it lists what they have in the yard... you rock up with tools, hand over a gold coin and go nuts smile.gif
All parts are the same price - eg: all headlights are $40 for instance... I think the most expensive item they sell is any multi-cam V8, which if I recall is $750.

Anyway... My Audi is for sale, shortly to be listed on TM for $1500 but if any NZFF members are keen I can let her slide for $1000 winkyy.gif In it's place, I now have this:

A 1997 Peugeot 306 GTi-6 ninja.gif
Picked it up for a steal using the "shock and awe" technique - You can almost always buy a car for less than they're worth by waving cold hard cash at the seller...
No modifications have been done to it apart from a towbar being fitted at some point.
2.0 16v punching out 167hp @ 7800rpm through a sweet 6 speed box and man does it sound sweet!

Blame our rarely seen member SupaSid for my purchase, as he had one of these when we were both actively flying smile.gif

I had a guy look at my Alfa yesterday who said he is really keen on an Audi Coupe but couldn't find one he liked. I'll tell him about yours if you like?

Oh nice. One of them used to live just up the road and I convinced myself I was going to buy one. As usual it lasted about a week biggrin.gif

Should wizz through a wof, drivers side window not working (new mechanisms are like rocking horse poo...) but mechanically fit.

What are the current problems with it? If I sell the Alfa for $3500 it will leave me around $1300 to spend on a car after repaying debt etc, so an Audi Coupe for $1000 sounds far more bearable than a Suzuki Alto or something..

Apart from the window? the sunroof mechanism needs a rebuild (not complicated, its a manual winder - worm and nut style), small amounts of surface rust (none structural, we attacked what little there was when I bought it). Small pieces if trim on the dash are missing, but its more of a time consuming rather than expensive exercise to track them down.
It has a small crack in the exhaust manifold, which all 5-pots are notorious for... not a wof concern, just an annoying tick under power. Parts are dime a dozen, its more of a pain in the bum to pull the head off to get to it (engine is tilted over to the right stopping access from above, lower arms and engine mounts stop you from going in underneath).

It's done 330,000km and uses almost no oil and has healthy, even compression (197-201 recorded across 5 cylinders) so there's no reason why with regular oil changes and servicing it wont see another 300,000km - there's a couple of VASKers in Auckland that are up around the 8-900,000km mark on the original engine, having done only oil, coolant, thermostat and cambelts...
