Dash7 in Newmans colours

Discuss aircraft addons and repaints for Flight Simulator here

Markus, that looks amazing!

If I'm not too late, I just noticed one little aspect that you may want to add if it's not too difficult. On the leading edge of the wings, the black deice boots span the entire length, as can be seen in Ian's images.

Other than that possible addition, it looks ready to release!

Milton,s Dash-8 has really stood the test off time , Brilliant work Markus cool.gif

i had too laugh on the orginal dash 7 website, (NOT recommended for Low-End Computers (<350mhz) or Video Cards (<32meg))

oh the old days, mind you the dx4 100 pc i brought new cost me almost $4000, my uber comp that i built middle of last year cost me just over $2000, how times have changed

great work love the repaint

...think about a "TEAL" paint for that nice freeware L-118 Electra (KBT?) ...... rolleyes.gif

Sorry, mate:
KBT decided to build this Electra FSX only - I'll stick to FS9...

@ Sean:
Thanks for your attention, I knew it would be a good idea to ask here. Simply forgot the de-icers. Here are those boots:

What about the registration letters on the lower wing?
Did/do NZ aircraft have to carry them, just like canadian ones do?

Cheers,
Markus.

Found an answer to the registration. It does look like it requires it under the left wing.

http://www.caa.govt.nz/rules/Part_047_Brief.htm

47.113 Location of marks – heavier-than-air aircraft
(a) Except as provided in paragraphs © and (d), aeroplanes, gliders, and
powered gliders must display the marks required under 47.101(a)—
Civil Aviation Rules Part 47 CAA Consolidation
3 December 2009 21 CAA of NZ
(1) once, on the lower surface of the wing structure. If the marks are
confined to the outer half of the wing structure they must be
located on the left lower surface. The tops of the letters must be
towards the leading edge of the wing and so far as is possible, be
equidistant from the leading and trailing edges of the wing; and

(2) horizontally on both sides of the fuselage between the wings and
tail surfaces, or horizontally on the upper halves of the vertical
tail surfaces. Marks on a single vertical tail surface must appear
on both sides. Marks on multi-vertical tail surfaces must appear
on the outboard sides of the outer surfaces.

So I think one full ZK registration beneath the left wing will do it!

Para C says this is not required if the aircraft operates exclusively within NZ, so I don't think this applies to domestic aircraft. I can't say I've noticed regos on the bottom LH side of any aircraft such as the Q300 or ATR?? Not sure that was still the case back with the Dash-7.

Thanks for clearing this point, guys!

Dunno if the reg-bearing ATRs were/are used for hopping to some 'non-domestic' islands too, but as the Newman's Sevens apparently operated on NZ domestic services only, I'll omit the reg.

@ Ian:
May I paste a copy of your 1985 Wigram photo into the upload?
I would like to include a reference.

Cheers,
Markus.

Thanks, Ian!

Upload to AVSIM, Flightsim.com and Sim-Outhouse finished.
First scheduled Newmans flight (#115) from Christchurch to Queenstown will start at 7.00 AM, no need to hurry...

Have fun!
Cheers,
Markus.

Hooray!!

Downloading now from flightsim.com!

Would you mind uploading it to www.simviation.com as well? (It's ok if you would rather not...)

Thanks for the excellent work! smile.gif

Glad you like it, folks!

It's an awesome aircraft and a terrific paint kit, so it's hard to spoil a repaint on this one...

My paint shack just has to be aired, then there's perhaps some Corsairs again.

Cheers,
Markus.

Thanks for this great repaint ! That was the most lamented gap in my NZ collection until yesterday!

Anyone able to provide a list of routes on which the Dash 7 was operated by Newmans?

I've included the Newmans 1985 timetable into the upload (taken from
http://3rdlevelnz.blogspot.com/2010_02_01_archive.html ).

Don't have any further information on this issue.

Cheers,
Markus.

Markus - I liked the look of your paint so much I thought I'd give it a go in FSX! winkyy.gif

It works pretty well - even the VC works. The only things that don't are some of the "pop-up window" gauges - which is no big thing, as the 2D and VC seem fine. I had to do the dreaded FS9->FSX props alpha trick, but that didn't take long! If anyone wants those two textures, give me a shout.

I also have been using the Dash 7 with FSX I had copied and pasted the prop files from another FSX turboprop aircraft it worked ok but not 100% as you can see http://nzff.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=11556&hl=
