Seriously, anyone who hasn't visited the Vintage Aviator museum at Hood Aerodrome, should REALLY go...I'm heading back there soon hopefully, since theres been a few additions since I was there last

These are some more nice references, Paul!
Now I know that the duck currently is on port side only - one more thing to consider for the USN rendition...

@MarkII:

That's funny - I took a pic of the P&W Eagle back in 2006:

It belongs to this one (P&W R-985):

Maybe unknown to you down there, it's the Max Holste MH.1521 Broussard, nicknamed "French Beaver":
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Max_Holste_Broussard

It's always to keep those pics stored, once you'll need them...

Cheers,
Markus.

Please forget all my above suspicions concerning the Aeroplane Heaven Corsair!

I received a very kind - and totally legal! - offer I couldn't resist, and now I'm a proud owner of this bird. plane.gif
It's brillant!
Sure it needs some computing power, but even the 'full' version runs as smooth as the A2A Jug on my system. Nor reason to try the 'lite' version.

Now there are just two problems:

1. ZK-COR (the USN '8' livery) was already done by John 'Bomber12th' Terrell. I can't do any better!

2. The Alpha Bleu Ciel Corsair suddenly doesn't look this fine to me anymore. unsure.gif

Solutions:

1. Two schemes of NZ5648 left for me to do on the AH bird. Later on...

2. Gritting my teeth and get those darn pixels set in the right places. I began it - now it's a matter of honour to get it done!

Close, but not close enough...:

Problem is - now you'll start playing instead of working! winkyy.gif

Hmm Breitling fighters...

We have plenty of P51's...an Iris Kittyhawk... hopefully a whole bunch of Corsairs(!)...what to do about the Spit, then?

Hmmm - the WoP Spit (Mk.I) is ready and waiting! I have the great paint kit (by John Terrell, iirc) on stock, always wanted to make use of it.
Any template for this 'early' Spitfire?

Success! rolleyes.gif

I finally got rid of this nasty texture bleeding (vertical stripe) at the borderline of fwd and aft fuselage textures:

Guy Hulin without any doubt built an awesome model, but he sure has some strange kind of humor when it comes down to texture mapping:
The area at the foreward end of the rear fuselage section is mapped around the tailcone end - not too easy to figure this out... blink.gif

One step foreward again!
I think I just have to replace the wing roundels and version two of three is ready for the upload folder.
If wifey won't get too upset, this package should hit the skies this weekend!

Thanks, mates!

The current USN rendition bound for the finish:

(Killmarks resized in the second shot to fit to original size)

From all the pictures I grabbed of this current scheme, none showing size and position of the civil registry number ZK-COR. Does anyone have a clue if and where?

Fantastic work! I will download the model and the WOW04 paint (my personal favourite) as soon as I return home this arvo.

Now of course you just need to do her post-restoration paint scheme from the 1960s..... see here for some lovely colour photos. I for one would love to see this scheme!

Won't be too hard.
But the question about the appropriate blue remains. It's a very non-specular blue, but which one?

So Brendon Deere's Spit is a Mk !X.
The Realair Spit is a Mk XIV which is virtually the same thing if I recall...and they have an AI model!
Just a few more stickers, and the Breitlings will be complete...

Nope, Sir!

The Mk IX is Merlin-powered, whereas the Mk XIV has this huge (and too muscley in my eyes...) Griffon thing in front.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Supermarine_S...wered_variants)

But there is a very fine free Mk IX out there (done by Paul Rebuffat I believe), and I think I've seen it in Kiwi clothes as well.
I'm currently at the office now, but I'll take a closer look once I'm home again.

Pretty sure Zac (KH5054) did one...ther is a "AL" scheme for the Realir MkIX Spit but thats for FSX only.
