Polikarpov I-15 and I-153

I know I've mentioned my desire for an I-153 in my hangar before, but I might be onto something here...

Hours spent trawling through Avsim.ru for pieces of Soviet heavy metal, and I stumbled across an I-15/I-153 project that had been abandoned and is now freeware
It's been done in FSDS, so I'm led to believe. There are a couple of screenshots taken from FSDS, and it does look promising (eg: the upper wing actually has a smooth curve down to the fuselage, unlike the angles I've seen on other models of this machine)

Being that I suck unbelievably badly with programs like GMAX and FSDS (it once took me an entire weekend to "construct" a simple tube that actually looked somewhat like a tube) is there anyone here who can take up where this Russian guy abandoned it? I can email the files easily (just under 10mb) if there is any interest.

FS2004/FSX Polikarpov I-15. The Polikarpov I15 was a highly manoeuvrable fighter. It had a small lower wing and large upper gull wing curved down at the roots to meet the fuselage. It gained a world altitude record before serving in very large numbers (about 550) in Spain, where it was dubbed Chato (flat-nosed). It even served against the Finns and Luftwaffe, but by 1937 it was being replaced by the I-15bis with a continuous upper wing carried on struts. This is a Polikarpov I-15, Nr46, leader aircraft of Group 26, piloted by Ivan Eriomenko commander of 1 Squadron between May and October of 1937. Gmax model by A.F. Scrub.

Yeah seen that one Mike, possibly the same model... I have found other I-15's over the years though and I'm not that interested in them
It's the I-153 that I want - the last biplane fighter to enter service (it came out after the better known I-16 monoplane) and probably still stands as the fastest biplane in the world

Excellent! Scrub is the man, I waited ages for a Piper Enforcer for FS and he came out with one. Off to get the Chaika right now!

Also, does anyone know of a convincing soundpack for Polis?

Answered my own question for now, I have a YAK-18T soundpack which fits the bill nicely. What a twitchy lil mofo this Chaika is! It will definitely take some getting used to.

If you've got the I-16 pack that's floating around on the usual sites, have a quick compare of the .cfg files between the '153 and the '16...
With the obvious exception of the fact that the '153 is a biplane they should be very similar.

Used to bash around in CFS with a guy very much like our own Ian Warren, who's father had hours in both the '153 and the '16 when they were fresh off the 'line.
Reckoned the '16 model was spot on - tricky to master but very rewarding
