Looks pretty good....the NZ connection??....its modelled on a ex RNZAF Mustang ("Janie") flying in the UK and it comes with a RNZAF scheme....but there are two more P-51D models on their way

Exterior looks great ... but I'm always a bit bemused by these 3D cockpits that look like something straight out of Autocad. Combat planes in particular would be fairly "used" inside!

It always seems to much to me, to spend $34US on effectively a VFR aircraft. Happily for me, I have an excellent freeware P51D in the hanger already smile.gif
Not to say this is not a mighty fine model.. There are just too many choices for P51 already it seems - (Wings of Power, Warbirdsim)

Not sure myself actually with mixed reports coming in..but this is the first true FSX P-51D ... there are two more FSX P-51Ds on the way (A2a with Accusim and Warbirdsim) and both sound great...but probably will cost a lot more.

funny that you think the exterior looks great, I think the exterior looks truly awful, especially on the bare metal ones.
and that is just the textures, I also think the shape of the nose cone is wrong and the tail is too short
But the good part is that I don't have to buy it, so I'll happily wait for the next releases, hopefully soon

btw, albatross, how can there be too much choice?

I just don't see how anyone can think they will make money when there are already other options for P51 on the market. Who would buy more than one?
I must admit I'm not a big warbird fan, but I would think the money would be in making something no one else has.
Like for example Capt Sim building a 767. LevelD already did it, and extremely well, so why not make something no one has yet? I'm still waiting on someone to build a decent version of one of the world's most popular airliners, the A320, but yet here we have a 3rd P51 instead, with two more on the way! laugh.gif It just seems overkill, and as a payware designer you are splitting your market share with 4 others. Those Lotussim guys had the right idea, release a beautiful looking plane that no one else has yet, and no doubt enjoy the sales from everyone wanting that sort of plane, than splitting your sales with four other groups.
Payware developers are no doubt all complaining about piracy ruining their small businesses anyway, (tragic yes), but if you increased your market share by selling an original product would that not at least help you turn a profit? (eg like PMDG with their aircraft choices)
Sorry for the ramble... I'm just speaking as I see it smile.gif

I like the ramble ........Hmmm You are right ......... I love to see the Capt Sim 52 a lot further along , that one like their C130 is a Gold maker yet they stalled. Im still to get a 51 , possible one reason i dont have it , maybe im waiting a RealAir type , maybe this is what A2A have to offer smile.gif

That's true, but there's nothing 'in between' for the 767. Level-D is a full systems aircraft, great, but it's just not for me. I don't want to use an FMC, mess around with setting it up, complex engine starts etc etc. Captain Sim....well, after their 757 mess I'm done with them. CLS is going to fill the gap for me with their 'lite' version, which is what I think a lot of these developers should offer more of alongside their complex versions.

As for this P51, doesn't look right to me for some reason. I have to agree with pretty much everything that Jankees said about it, when I first saw it I was like 'what the hell is up with the nose?' The VC doesn't look too great imo either, too 'polished' and 'clean' maybe some textures would fix it up, faded paint, chipping paint and things like that.

I think I'll stick with the A2A P51.

I don't know how they think they can make money either, but I would buy more than one, I already did...

Right now, I have/had (in FSX):
freeware P-51D by Warwick Carter, looks OK, is fee, but for FS9, so i needed some fiddling with the prop
payware P-51D by A2A, reasonable price, better than OK looks, tons of repaints (my fault) and still fun to fly.
payware P-51D via Acceleration, which looks horrible, but that is just my opinion, now deleted
payware P-51B by Warbirdsim, unreasonable price, looks good, fun to fly, and I'm working on some paints (see below)
payware P-51D by Flight1, OK price, looks awful, expect no repaints from me, gone too..

and in the future:
payware P-51D by warbirdsim, I expect an unreasonable price, but truly great looks..
payware P-51D by A2A, with accusim, I expect a reasonable price, and a truly fantastic model in all respects...

I like Mustangs, and I consider myself fortunate with all this choice....suppose there were none?

sorry for my ramble, but I liked yours!

Jan Kees

That Warbirdsim one looks really great, maybe their D version I might even take a look at laugh.gif But depends on the price really.
I have the Warwick one on FS9 and really like it, and of course the Acceleration version on FSX. But then, I'm not a warbird flier generally biggrin.gif
Not to say I'm not a Mustang fan! I even built this in the last couple of months:

I have to admit it looks a bit 'clean' on the interior! I think I will stick with my A2A WOP version for now, and await an accusim upgrade. The patch fixed all the real problems with the original FS9 port anyway.
