Notification of New Zealand Airspace Revision

30 July 2009

1. INTRODUCTION
Effective 00:01 hours NZST 30 July 2009 VATNZ airspace will undergo a major revision. This will bring VATNZ airspace in line with the real world and offer new challenges to controllers and improved service to pilots.

2.0 NZZC NEW ZEALAND DOMESTIC FIR
The changes are :
  1. The Auckland sector NZCH-A_CTR is renamed and becomes the Raglan Sector NZCH-R_CTR
  2. The Bay sector NZCH-B_CTR has been created covering the Bay of Plenty airspace and in conjunction with this NZHN_APP will be available for use during special events.
  3. The Wellington sector NZCH-W_CTR is renamed and becomes the Taranaki sector NZCH-T_CTR
  4. The Christchurch North sector NZCH-N_CTR is renamed the Kaikoura sector NZCH-K_CTR
  5. The Christchurch South sector remains NZCH-S_CTR but has changes to the airspace boundaries


2.1 NZZO NEW ZEALAND OCEANIC FIR
No Change

2.2 NEW SECTOR FILES AND POF FILE
All controllers please note that along with name changes there are also changes to airspace boundaries. All controllers must ensure that they download the new sector file (version 2.20) and the new POF (version 1.09)

Euroscope files will also be available for download.

All files will be downloadable from the VATNZ Downloads Section.

New airspace reference pages will available on the VATNZ website.

3.0 CANCELLATION
This NOTAM remains in effect PERMANENTLY unless superseded by subsequent NOTAMS.
