40 Hour Famine

A forum for everything else that does not fit into the other categories

I'm going to be spending 40 hours in a car this weekend for the 40 Hour Famine from 8pm Friday until 12pm Sunday. If anyone is keen to sponsor me (which would be greatly appreciated) you can do it online by going to www.famine.org.nz/zkvac. Are any other NZFFers doing it?

lol that sounds like a bit of a contradiction.

I'm going to give up using facebook/internet in general for the weekend. I waste way too much time on both!

A no-food famine is just one of the possibilities, not the only one. World Vision had to enable people that can't go without food for whatever reason (sport, eating disorders etc) to take part as well which is why they started other famines. It now means that we can think up original ideas (such as the car one) to try and get more sponsors, which has worked. The other person with me for the 40 hours has more than $500 worth of sponsorship.. Not bad.

Do you remember Richard Hammond and James May spending 24 hours in a car ? It had been advertised as being "as comfortable as your lounge" so they put it to the test. The daytime bits were ok (just driving around), the eating bit was ok (drive thru's), but the bit where they had to use the absorbent gel filled bags that Richard had found somewhere ....... laugh.gif and that was only 24 hours !

Are you taking a break every couple of hours like they let the people who live on billboards to win stuff do ?

Gary

ps good luck going bush for the weekend pilot.masman - are you going to be camping in the paintball area up at Riverhead ? laugh.gif
