Crikey, that was fast. I still prefer the full faded dark grey scheme they used for the Dumbo rescue missions.

Hi there, me here...

I have a couple of questions about that KiwiCat I am working on... OK, you've only seen a couple of roughs here - shots I sent to Ian just sort of to let you guys know I am still alive.

COLOURS! I need advice on the colours please. As is usual with photos found on the web, they are all taken under different lighting. Personally I think I have gone too pale in my latest attempts and I would like to see if you guys have some show-day shots taken under maybe a neutral sky. Full overcast but thin cloud. Maybe under a shelter or in an open hangar... i.e. no blue sky between the Cat and the sun.

Detail? Yes, those elefants are great. And any "sponsorship" writings on the sides. And where are all the jacking / servicing logos? What colours are the upper surfaces.

The Cat paintkit is great, but it does have problems in that there are around 13 sheets that need painting and the "wrapping" does make for unusual methods needed to paint straight lines - as you can see below from the model's polygon layout below.

A good enlargement of the "XX-T" would help. You will note that this PBY5A has slightly different window layouts when compared to the KiwiCat.

Also needed - a look into the engines. Prop and spinner, prop reduction gearbox colour etc. Rear end around the blisters - exact size and positioning of roundels and dirt...

ALL HELP MORE THAN WELCOME

Ah... more grey than blue. Yes - good demo of the detail.

ALSO - there's something with a "25th Anniversary something" near the wheels in some of the pix... Ideas?

How odd...

I Google this plane and get a great selection of 79 images in the Google "Framed" page. Remove the frame and only 16 remain. I didn't see that before, so now I do have loads of pictures - more than I can shake a stick at.

Could still do with detail close-ups on text and markings for accurate positioning though.

Good link, thanks! I see they did a version for FS2002...

I now know it was "Mainfreight" painted on the fuselage as sponsors - anyone got their 25 year anniversary logo in a close up?

I also have the "Resene" paints visible on the wingtip floats.

I also have some good interior shots. Maybe I'll do something there.

Working on a darker blue-grey for the uppers etc.

Great photos James , Chris .. Im very sure 'Mainfreight ' logo would not be hard to get , these things are as common as the Big Reds (buses) in Christchurch and in and out off my work place .

Wotcher chasps...

Sitrep:

There's a lot of funny stretches and mappings with the PK, but nothing I can't fix. I still have some concerns with colour though - is she glossy or matt? The default alpha is rather shiny IMHO but I am getting there.

Enjoy peering over my shoulders...

EDIT by the way - that Cancer Campaign text on the left... is that right? Pure estimated guestimation on my part, but I like the idea.

Plum Island - a great little place. A wee bit tight for the Cat, but not impossibly so.
