No mess here (thankfully) that's a wee bit off topic anyway. Imagine the sound 10 Fletcher's would make drool.gif

Last night I started down grading the 950M/954 400 HP Fletcher to a basic 950, just like you'd expect in the 1970's. This in the days before GPS and all the other mod cons. I will look at paint schemes for the major Fletcher operators of the time - James Aviation, Robertson Air Service, Fieldair and Wanganui Aero Work. The base textures used will be exactly the same as my current Fletchers, so that will make everything easier. I don't plan on going down to 300HP and earlier Fletcher models as there is a lot more work to do.

Deane

Ohhh yeeeeeeaaaaaaaahhhhh,............... a James Aviation paint !!! Cant wait for that one !!

Nah, at the moment we only have five Fletchers registered to us, and of that number two are flying - both in the South Island (EGK and EML). I think ten was about the most the company's ever had!

Very much looking forward to the Early 950s!

Our last Stratford-based machine was Cresco LTC flown by Kevin Brown - both sadly lost in an accident late last year sad.gif.

A while back it may have been ex-Fieldair machine EUH, which has a red rear fuse and outer wings - sorry, I don't have any shots! VERY similar to this:

Until I get home on the weekend, I'm a little devoid of reference material. So if you guys have any pictures of James, Robertson or Fieldair Fletchers (particularly 1970's and 80's schemes) please feel free to email me deane@terotek.co.nz or post them here. Then I can make more progress on repaints.

cheers Deane

Yea that was Ian Dingle's a/c which was a seperate company from Fieldair which was called Fieldair Straford (or something like that) after Fieldair stopped topdressing. Does Ian still fly?? Is there no WAW Fletchers/Crescos at Stratford anymore?

I had few flights in a Agwagon with Ian years ago when he flew for Rural.

At the moment we have no permanent Stratford aircraft - I presume our Wanganui pilots, Murray and Bruce, must do any work up that way.

Yup, Dingle's the one smile.gif Word is he's moved to Superair to fly a Walter Fletcher.

Oh - yes last time I saw him, he said he wanted to fly a Turboprop Fletcher - he must be one of the highest times ag pilots around thats still active.

Straford without a WAW aircraft! They have had one there for decades.

If you have all the required "bits", you could try creating a complete archive for him - then [pre-]create a new item on NZFSIM (but flagged inactive) till he uploads that file to Avsim (or wherever) and gives the go-ahead <???>.

WAW's fleet of TEN FLETCHERS and four helis at a Wanganui air show in the late 70s. He said the sound was incredible winkyy.gif

And a Ford Cortina - try finding one of those on the road these days !!
Yes good pics of an era in topdressing that we are unlikely to see again

I guess WAW will be in for some repainting soon on there fleet - will be rather expensive to add the H into Whanganui - LOL !!
