Welcome to Aitutaki Airport, in the beautiful Pacific Island paradise of the Cook Islands.
The Cook Islands domestic air carrier is Air Rarotonga, serving all the islands in the group
using Embraer EMB110 "Bandeirante" and Saab-340 aircraft.

This scenery is designed and built to fit the RBE / Sim Pilot Experience "Cook Islands Scenery" (payware),
by Christian Stock.
It has not been tested in the freeware Cook Islands Mesh that is available, or in FS9 default.

A few random pics................

Good stuff Lawrie thumbup1.gif

Aitutaki was actually the place in the Cooks that the guys at school told me was the best place to visit- not Mauke (well they both have 'K' in the name tongue.gif)

Apparently the runway there is long/wide enough to handle an A380!

Hi Andrew,
Yes, it is a beautiful place,......... ive been there.

The runway may be wide enough, but i doubt it would be long enough (6004 ft ), or have the strength to support the weight of an A380............
Be an interesting thing to try in FS though..........

Yeah definately NOT strong enough, looks impressive, and technically capable of taking 737's, but apparently not feasible to land jets there regularly as it wont handle he heavier impact. The locals arent that keen on increasing flight freq anyway judging by the furore over Sunday flights recently. Its a beautiful spot allright (had our Honeymoon on Aitutaki), definately reccomend it as a destination. Nice work on the scenery by the way Lawrie

I havnt tried to land an A-380 there in the sim, but have sucessfully landed a B733 there, after a short hop from NCRG Rarotonga Intl.
No trouble to the B733 getting in and out of there.
Thanks for the link to the article about the runway,........ i did come across this article when i was researching the airport and looking for pics.

I wonder if anyone has yet tried to land an A-380 there in the sim ??................ ohmy.gif

Following is a pic I took as we flew into the Island. The strip you see (which Lawrie will know about) is the old WW-II era runway built for American bombers to use. Has a surface that seems to be made of sea-shells and concrete, musta been hell on the tires blink.gif

The new active sealed runway goes along the spit at the top of the picture from top-left to top-right.
