Damn the C17 is a cool plane. Some RAAF guy told me how its the only aircraft that can deploy its reverse thrust in-flight, and therefore it can descend from 30000 feet, to the ground in around 2 minutes.

Ha! reminds me of a thing I saw on the discovery channel late last year...apparently, just after the Iranian revolution, the Americans planned to go into Tehran to rescue some diplomats and their families by landing a C130 inside a football stadium, loading the people up, and taking off again. This all was done with the assistance of forward JATO rockets, including some that faced forward for additional braking power on landing.

Apparently one pilot got his timing wrong, and fired them while the c130 was still airborne....the result? Well, lets just say that the show I saw this on was called "Destroyed in Seconds"!!

ooo, just small update, second pilot on C17(right one, in civil its FO, don't know if military use the same name) was a young lady(less than 30years old)

Glad you liked them, actually after I uploaded them I thought they might be a little too big - I used to save all my photos at 1024 pixels across (in addition to keeping a full size original on my external hard drive) but recently I've switched to 1600 pixels across because I think it makes better use of the camera's performance. As for the camera, I have a Canon 300D, actually pretty outdated by today's standards, but it does the job as you can see. With DSLRs in general, the lens will often make as much, if not even more difference than the camera itself.

extra 2mp is not that important as sharp for example on 300mm(compare 70-300is and 100-400is). The only main things about bodies-increasing noise(thats depends how you use your camera)
