Help with computer component compatibility

I may have posted a similar topic a while ago, but this time im looking to build more within my budget.

if possible, i would like to know if these compnents are compatible (im pretty sure they are but this is my first time)

the motherboard i would be getting as a mobo+cpu+ram combo (which i assume are all compatible as choosing a motherboard rules out cpu and ram options in the combo builder)

i know there isnt much information about the PSU which might be a worry. would it be better to get a different case and choose my own PSU? this would unfortunatly bring the price up a bit (all up these cost $845.71)

i already have an IDE HDD and DVD RW+-

any other things to look out for or pc building tips would be much appreciated

I have been building and upgrading computers for myself and some of my friends for the last 7 or 8 years
your specs look ok apart from the PSU a 450W might be working to run a good Video card my suggestion would be to try and get a PSU of at least 600W or more.
the specs of the one I am using now is PSU 640W an Asus A8N-SLI motherboard, AMD dual core FX60 CPU giving 2610 Mhz, 4GB DDR 400 memory, Asus 9800 GTX 512MB video card, 4 Sata HDDs (a 40GB, 160GB, 250GB, and 300GB), with 2 operating systems XP Home and XP Pro x64, 2 DVD drives, 3 Asus 22" monitors.
The 40GB HDD is set up with XP Home and used for my everyday use the 160GB HDD is setup with XP Pro x64 and my FSX the other 2 HDDs are storage and data.
I run my FSX through a Matrox TripleHead2Go to the 3 monitors and I also have a Trackir 4 setup.
I have the frame rate set on 22 and it holds that most of the time but does drop down as far as 16 when flying over some of the scenery add ons like some of Robins RealNZ scenery.

so you think what i have chosen looks alright? apart from the PSU? would a bigger psu actually be benificial because im not looking to shove many/any pci cards in there and eXtreme power supply calculator says i only need about 250W

is that still the 939 pin board and cpu?

I have the same M/Board with the 3800x2 and if I want to upgrade it means a new board/cpu/ram etc etc etc so if I could get a cheap but better cpu it would be good - and how well does the 9800card run in it? my graphics card is running 1 19" crt and a 22" lcd and seems to be starting to play up - FSX always locks up and dumps to desktop after about 2-3 mins or if I try to change views - have had to go back to fs9 for a bit.

Yes it is the 939 MB and yes to upgrade it will mean a new MB, CPU and Memory Video card HDDs etc can all be reused.
The FX60 is the top CPU for the 939 I was lucky to get this one but have not seen anymore of them around.
I only run the 3 22" LCD monitors when I am on Flight Sim the 9800GTX card runs very well haven't had any problems with it and I am getting better frame rates since I installed it.

You didn't say what the CPU was but I would say for Flight Sim you will need a minimum of dual core 2.6 MHz preferably something giving 3GHz or better and yes I would recommend going to a bigger PSU I had a 450W but when I upgraded to the 9800GTX I had to upgrade my PSU
My specs run through the eXtreme power supply calculator tell me I need at least 600W.
You might get away with a lot less but if you want to upgrade later you are best to have a decent PSU from the start.

I wouldn't say you need a Dual core to run FSX. I have an old Intel P4 HT (3.4GHz) and my system runs FSX fine, other main components are 2.5Gb of RAM, and a nVidia 7950GT.

With settings med-high I get about 20-25 frames.

I would recommend getting a fastish SATA hard drive and installing FSX/Games onto that....they are so cheap now.

This won't change frame rates as such but it will cut down on the 'blurries' in scenery.

yea. i might do that later on. for now i would just be using the IDE drive but i am intending to make the entire computer upgradable in case things like this do come up
