Heading back this morning and hopefully the weather there is better than it is here.
The show was great yesterday, some nice displays flown and first class weather.

Was in the gold stand most of the time, had a media pass as well but never got there as the enclosures were close together.Ian Warren wrote:QUOTE (Ian Warren @ Jan 22 2009, 10:19 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>All those pics i can tell your favorite aircraft Gavin ... the Sopwith Triplane
Its pretty close to my favourite machine
FlyingKiwi wrote:QUOTE (FlyingKiwi @ Jan 22 2009, 11:25 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>Great photos Gavin, the last one of the Triplane is very nicely composed with the heart in the background.
it was a load of fun taking photos from the ground, not something I have done laltely but really enjoy it.
The shot of the Triplane and heart were taken for my mate Macca, leader of the Checkers, as I promised something a bit different and the Triplane pretty much lined up perfectly, will have a look through the others as I lined up some other planes as well.deeknow wrote:QUOTE (deeknow @ Jan 23 2009, 02:42 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>Stunning pics Gavin, no idea what the technicalities are but the depth-of-field looks bloody great, must be nice fast lenses aye? Just love that shot of the Seasprite doing that banking manouvere
The lenses can be quick but you still have to make them work pretty hard to get the best from them.benwynn wrote:QUOTE (benwynn @ Jan 23 2009, 05:41 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>Awesome Pics Gavin.
Taken with the 100-400?
Mostly yes.
The 100-400 has its positives and nagatives but offers lots of flexibility.
Has taken me a long time to learn how to work it properly as it does some things well but other things not so well.K5054NZ wrote:QUOTE (K5054NZ @ Jan 23 2009, 06:27 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>Nice to see some of your work Gav! Noticed you with Mr Sullivan yesterday visiting the TVAL tentLooking forward to your shots from today!
You should have given me a yell.
Lots of good stuff in the TVAL tent, best thing was loads of cold water.
Here is a shot taken as the Kittyhawk headed to Masterton.Last edited by Gavin Conroy on Sun Jan 18, 2009 7:16 pm, edited 1 time in total.Cheers Gavin:

Gav , that P-40 really has the look , weather worn almost combat fatigued , but the F4now thats an interesting model , just for interest sake , USS Roosevelt short for ' Franklin D Roosevelt ' CV42 was the second of three 'Midway' class carriers , the third being the 'Coral Sea'.

You confused me for a second- I thought that there must have been a huge well kept secret about getting an F4 to New Zealand for a special surprise finale to the WoW airshow, then I looked a bit closer and saw that there were no pilots in the cockpit and a huge antenna coming out of the fuselage!
The all grey background is very deceptive though- you have no idea of the scale of it. What sort of size was it?

This should give you some idea of the scale.
