Brisbane Airport Spotting 2-1-2009

Hey Again Guys!

First post for a while. Went to test out the new lens (Canon 70-200 2.8 L) on a pretty grey day. Though, good thing about grey days in Brisbane is you can go out early and get some pictures of the big planes without them being backlit! I was really impressed with the lens, infact incredibly impressed, I think these are my best photos to date- Let me know what you think.

@ Anthony, Switch a couple of months ago I guess. Now using Canon EOS 40D, 17-85 IS and 70-200 2.8 L.

Hi there,

The camera and lens I was using here is the Canon EOS 40D and the Canon EF 70-200 2.8 L. For this setup, it would set you back around about $3000 New Zealand Dollars. Very expensive, I cringe when I realise how much Ive spent on this hobby - but I dont just photograph aviation, check out my website- link below.

I want to get into Photography but don't want to spend heaps on a camera.

Very nice photos! But small thing, have you calibrate your screen? And do you use any editor? If yes just try to make a bit less shadows. I have had similar trouble with screen

I'm inclined to agree, the clarity of your images are just supurb!

The QF jumbo on finals and the smoking Fijian 737 are my favs- now saved to the folder I usually reserve for desktop backgrounds

If you have time, I'd love to see a map of YBBN and the areas around the taxiways where you manage to capture your stunners from.

Check out www.jetspotter.com , then go to spotting guide then Brisbane. I spot at the Acacia Loop Road spotting area. Its really the best and most popular spotting area, and the only one walkable from the train station.

@ d3fai13r, my screen seems to be fine. Its a Dell 24" and yes, I use photoshop CS3.

yes, simply outstanding, i really do have to get out to Brisbane, maybe we can meet up there, i can take you over to the aus air training/ qantas maintenance side(river side) you can get some good shots of some different aircraft that come in, there has been a private 737 sitting there for a couple of weeks, and then you get the training a/c too

i had heard a rumor that it was a private jet, but with the financial meltdown happening they couldn't afford it, hence it has been sitting, but then that is just a rumor, could have been in for maintenance or anything.

Hmm, it could be some Ozjet/HeavyLift 732 - seems werid its sitting near the VB Hangar, thats not the private jet area...
