DVI to HDMI vs DVI to DVI

The place to ask for help or solve each others technical issues and discuss hardware

Should be getting my 1080 HD monitor soon with HDMI input. My graphics card has DVI output with HMCP.

What would be better?

DVI to HDMI vs DVI to DVI

Would there be a noticeable difference?

Thanks

All those acronyms!
Suffice to say it's the first time you'll be able to plug your computer into the TV and see anything like a reasonable picture.
Great fun to see a 1m long C172 onscreen...
Watch out for the cables though, DVI/HDMI can run to a couple of hundred dollars when gold-plated.

DVI-DVI will be fine. The only time you will be able to tell a significant difference is if you were to be watching Blue-Ray and stuff like that. Even with HDTV if you were to be watching its very difficult to tell the difference if at all.

As Charl has said, get over it- The picture is going to look fine either way tongue.gif

I don't know much on the subject, but our BlueRay DVD system has DVI to DVI with the freewview box taking the HD cable, because, according to the manual, there is a longer delay with HD (only a few seconds, but still noticeable).

In fact, I'm not even sure if the DVD's we play are output at maximum quality, they all look amazingly clear to me, however, I've tried routing the BlueRay through the freeview box and then outputting it to the TV with the HD cables and personally can't tell of any difference.

OK cool, will stick to the DVI cables included with the monitor.

I wish it would hurry up and arrive though, they said it would be here yesterday.

I cant wait to push back the monitor instead of it being right in my face.
