Joystick assignments....

The place to ask for help or solve each others technical issues and discuss hardware

My 8 year old Saitek XU8 has finally given up the ghost, or at least the throttle system, and after my pulling it apart to fix it, yeah right" laugh.gif - it has now been replaced with a shiny new one, but with more buttons etc....

Has anyone any tips on what to use the spare 5 for, I currently have the usual, brakes, gear up/down, flaps, toggle ATC on and off, and cycle views.

I should point out I'm on FS9, and only fly the GA light stuff, no Airliners etc, so the needs are simpler in that respect.

Also is it possible to select the cycled views, spot, cockpit, virtual cockpit, etc individually to avoid having to scroll thru them. ?

I have trim up/down and reset mapped to buttons. I generally don't have gear/flaps mapped, as I tend to hit buttons by mistake.

I'd also be interested to know whether the individual views can be mapped. I hate cycling through as well.

from memory mine are (on a MS Sidewinder Precision 2)
Gear up/down
Flaps up
Flaps Down
KneeBoard
Views
Trim forward
Trim backward

Sometime use the trigger as smoke (since I have pedals for brakes)
Hat for moving VC view
