Yeah also heard/read that its not the best... best save your payware money for Flight 1 ATR if you are after a decent payware commuter turboprop.. or just get the BSMP ATP or Saab 2000 which costs you zero dollars.

By the way Dan hows progress on the Metro?

Just got home, straight to the office (started the download when I left for work, I think Telecom was on a broadband slow-down today), installed the ATP and been buzzing about. Some comments so far:
  • love the level of detail, rivets and panel joins, just enough at the right viewing distance, classy
  • sound set is great, very distinctive, especially like the startup sequence sound
  • nice detail in the undercarriage
  • 2d panel simple and effective, nice hint of perspective, must be tough to splice all those various gauge styles together and make it look consistant?
  • ground handling w nosewheel seems smooth, a lot of bite in the left right pedal/foot brakes?
  • handling in the air seems slow but deliberate and linear, no idea what the real-world machine is like but it felt nice to fly
  • (EDIT) she creeps along on the tarmac even when the props are feathered, is this a feature?
Jeeze she's quite a big bird too aye? Suprising how wide the wing-span is, and man those props look huge the way they're mounted high above the wing like that. Very cool.

Bloody well done Dan, thanx to you and your crew for another wicked machine. Is the plan to commercialise this?

Have any third-party repaints become available since the release? I am aware of two Air Europa repaints by a Spanish guy and an Asian Spirit, but other than that I have not come across any others. Someone able to hint me at some else?

Sad part is I cant Dl any of these nice aircraft as they were hosted on the now down avsim. Were they the ATP and Saab 2000 available anywhere else by chance? These types would make great Caribbean Aircraft.

The base packs of both are available at www.simviation.com and www.flightsim.com as well. Not sure about the paint kits, though.

I remember someone recently did a "Cayman Express" repaint of the Saab 2000, so you might be interested in that one.

Just to give you guys a heads up - since Dan has kindly uploaded the ATP at www.classicbritishfiles in June...

http://classicbritishfiles.com/index.php?o...nfo&id=1337

... a few repaints done by Owen Morris have already become available. Owen has uploaded British Airways Express, Loganair and Emerald Airways repaints. The guys at CBF are really committed to do repaints of all those magnificent British built aircraft. punk.gif

Emerald: http://classicbritishfiles.com/index.php?o...own&id=1362
Loganair: http://classicbritishfiles.com/index.php?o...nfo&id=1353
British Airways Express: http://classicbritishfiles.com/index.php?o...nfo&id=1350

By the way, just read in an UK forum that BAe brought an ATP to New Zealand in the mid 1980s for demonstration to Mount Cook. Apparently it had Mount Cook titles - has anyone ever come across a picture of it?

Great, thanks a lot! So it was a BRAL aircraft used by BAe for the deomnstration, not the prototype.

Too bad the ATP lost out to the ATR72.
