That's the cool thing about doing stuff like this - everything you pick up accidentally on the way!
Now you're an expert Gimper as well as an Anorak planespotter!
You'll never look at a Citation the same way again... laugh.gif

Did I hear Nunner volunteer to do a FP for these???

I've started work on a repaint for ZK-RGB Gulfstream G200 158 (ex N658GA)

As we've discovered now there is no fs9+ model available for a G200, there is a FS98 version but I tried installing it into FS9 tonite and all sorts of craziness happened, it was about twice the size it should have been and looked awful. There are a few IAI G100s about but the 100 series model just looks too different. The G200 is similar in general shape to the G-IIB which I am going to use for the repaint (model by Henry Tomkiewicz). Am repositioning a few windows etc which has made it look a lot closer. The tail section extends a little too far past the engines and the horizontal tail wing is in the wrong place but hey, it'll have to do tongue.gif

The Gulf 200 is such an odd a/c really,to me it looks more like a cross between a Challenger,Westwind 2 and
a Gulf 100. Suppose the thing to do is get it in the air and then if one of our model builder friend builds one then
simply repaint and use it. To be honest and you've done a great job it just looks like a G2TT......ish.
By the way I am working through plans for all the paints as we speak.

Yep, that's about all we can do. The front end is pretty close, the back end, well dry.gif

Great, thanx Charl. I'll put your name against it in the top post so noone else starts on that.
I'm gonna move onto the two Mustangs, ZK-MUS and N2243W, have found another model which looks easier/more flexible to paint than the Chuck Dome one

ps - as I paint each one I'm approaching photographers on airliners.net to see if we can use a low res copy of their pic of each one of these planes. So far the three I've contacted have been very oblidging and happy for us to use their picture as long as we acknowlegde them as the owner.

Hey Charl,
Do you have a complete list of where these a/c are based, I assume most NZAA ?
Also for purposes of the GNZLAP concept, numbering the a/c ?

Nunner, I put the locations of each aircraft in brackets after their owner/operator in the first post to this thread, including input from Charl

Won't be part of GNZLAP traffic file.
It's Deeknow's show, I don't suppose it matters what you number 'em, there are not that many a/c..

ZK-MUS out of the paint-shop and sitting on the western apron at Wellington airport...

The registration number isnt quite in the right place, but the way the rudder and vertical tail section textures are applied to the model means you'd have to fiddle about with two spliced pieces of txt for the rego and hope they line up. May even resort to placing the rego on the engine covers. Not worth the bother at this stage, may come back to it.

Note: this is a flyable model too, any tips as to how the aircraft.cfg file can be tweaked to lessen the impact when used as AI? Does removing the panel and sound folders from the aircraft directory help?

Quick work!
My XP800 is proving to be probably more than I am capable of...I have sent off a begging letter to Steve Jenks for help!

Yes, remove panel and sound folders as they have no use.
Make sure textures are DXT3.
And see here for a consistent aircraft.cfg setup.

Lowe Mustang N2243W done (same paint scheme as ZK-MUS just different colours, nice-n-easy)...

I'm going to move onto N800DT Cessna Citation 1 now, there's no AI model for a CJ1 so am gonna use the Dee Waldron CJII and just blank out a couple of windows, its close enough at this stage rolleyes.gif

I ploughed on with the Hawker, which can be a placeholder until jenks has a better version.

Wow that really only leaves the Global Express, which has no pics and no AI model. Mmm.

Nice job on the Hawker, looks like a sweetly detailed AI model. As you say Charl, no model for the Global Express, altho I think I did find a pic of it here for sale, may only be a representative photo tho, no rego marks on the aircraft.

So hows about we knock up a package now and incorporate the GlobalExpress in it at a future date?

I'll IM you my email address and if you could zip up your textures and fire them to me I'll test all the aircraft together against the flightplans Nunner has created and sent me.

I was wondering if we shouldnt make up some three-letter airline/parking codes (as per your post over here) for the aircraft.cfg files so people can place them in AFCAD files, we've already got one for Air National but how about something like these for the rest?

AAC - Auckland Air Charter
AAL - Acernus Aero Limited
LOW - Lowe Corp
NBR - National Business Review
NET - Network Jets
PAJ - Pacific Jets
RNK - Rank

The other thing is do we distribute the models with the textures, some like the Dee Waldron ones are free to distribute, or do youz think its easier just to provide filenames and let folks hunt them down for themselves?

A package is always more attractive - just more work for you to contact the authors is all.
Most are flattered and pleased that you take the trouble.
Good idea on the parking, you'll just need to update the aircraft.cfg files before you package.
