I've said it before Matt, I'll say it again...

It's a crazy time to have an event for NZers. Makes absolutely no sense at all, sure you get guys from Europe joining in, but aside from regulars, I bet you won't get any kiwis in there.

Sorry Matt, but I have to say I agree with Alex winkyy.gif
Why don't they have it a few weeks earlier or something? I know its meant to coincide with the real life Op Deep Freeze, but as Alex said, its crazy timing tongue.gif

Personally I'm so bogged down with assessment work and study at the moment its not funny, and so are most students around the country.

The attendance will speak for itself I think winkyy.gif

Oh yea, I meant the time of day (7am); time of year isn't particularly good for me, but finding a date that suits everyone is nigh on impossible.

Completely right, Alex. 7am is not the most suitable time for NZers, but 8am, or 9am isn't so bad...

We start at 7am, as this will allow pilots from Europe etc to have the time to complete a flight before it gets too late for them. NZers are more than free to join at any time, and 8/9am isn't too early I don't think for a flight that will take 4/5 hours.

Starting in the evening, say 7pm may seem suitable, but it appears that no one is interested then, either. See the online night - that starts at 7:30pm every Saturday...no one shows up more often than not. See the last two events we've held in the evening local time where we had almost no NZ pilots turning up, and very few from anywhere else. Operation Deep Freeze last year was held at this time I think, and we had around 25 pilots overall, and about 4 of these were from NZ. Not very high, I know...but that's about what we have come to expect...I'm not sure how things were organised at Deep Freeze in 2006, but I always thought that was held at a similar time?

Personally, I would prefer to have these events in the evening, but that is never practical for us...sitting on the ATC for three hours and having three aircraft, when we could do the same thing in the morning and have 25 or 30 aircraft...much better practise to hold it in the mornings..

We would love to hold an event at times that would attract lots of pilots from NZ, but it seems impossible to do so. Therefore we have to look at times that will suit other parts of the world to get increased participation.

I'll make a suggestion to the staff to have another trial event sometime, maybe next month that is held in the evening, and see where that leads us...

Sorry Alex, misunderstood winkyy.gif

Good idea Matt winkyy.gif

Its always hard to make people go online at random times to suit New Zealander's ae tongue.gif

As you said, have to take the majority, sounds like it works well, so I hope its really successful for you smile.gif
