I wonder if this is dx10? Looks like it'll be for consoles as well but the PC version will be strictly a simulation.

I still play 1946 on the hyperlobby server and see many pilots online. I belong to 'skies of fire', often gets 32 pilots on a Saturday night with 10 to 20 the average at any given time.

Would love to see you all online. Make sure you get the 4.08 version patch to play.
Birds of Prey looks to carry on the great name of IL-2.

AFAIK its going to released as mainly a console game. BOB Storm of War is the next release scheduled, I've heard that Birds of Prey is a stop-gap as it's taking friggin ages to release BOB SOW. IL2 looks pretty when settings are maxed but Birds of Prey looks to have some nice ground scenery (not that you look at that too close when fighting).

KiwiBarGuy - have you seen the KiwiSim IL2 Community? here

We have a core group of NZ and Aussies who meet on Inspire TS and fly on Inspire or one of our two private servers for Co Ops and Team Battles.

Come fly with us come fly lets fly away .....

the fact its based for consoles usually always means a large loss of realism and a transformation towards a arcade game to target a larger audience, still enjoy the odd game of il21946 on the inspire server and get my @ss kicked but still is kinda fun getting on someones six and firing a burst of .50s tearing the opponent to shreads

I've been notably absent from Kiwisim ... TOO MUCH FSX!!! It seems there just aren't the hours in the day sad.gif

The Kiwisim IL2 community is a *great* bunch of people. Couldn't meet a friendlier group (bar here, of course!!!). Trouble is, they're all more knowledgeable, fly better and shoot better than me ohmy.gif

But hey ... at least you get to fire guns and cause mucho damage with bombs etc. Some of those co-operative ship attack sessions I remember were unbelievable! I like them, 'cos I can just tag along and watch winkyy.gif

ILS approaches boring you to tears? Go vent your frustrations on Kiwisim! Better out than in, I say!
