Hey guys, thought i share some pics from a short trip i made last night in an airbus a321, I took off from palmy and landed and Wanganui, managing to stop with about 1 metre of runway left, then headed up to Taupo. Forgot to take any pics of the first three two legs but i got a little snap happy after that so thought id share em with you guys. It was my first trip in an airbus, and i must say i wasn't all that impressed with the maneuverability of it, i also couldn't seem to use my rudder either in flight or when most needed on approach, could only use it on the ground, was i doing something wrong or is that just the way of the airbus??

Parked up while i had dinner and came back to find myself flanked by mum and nan from bay flight

Was a busy time of day at all airports, had to hold at Taupo while a Cessna took off

Plenty of runway left, don't know what i was worried about!

On the way to Rotorua to drop off a couple of mates

On finals into Rotorua, wonder if the cafe's open, feel like a coffee

Dash 8 touching down just as im finishing my coffee, good timing, think its going to get busy here soon, was deserted when i arrived

Yup she's getting busy, two 737's on approach.

Turning onto finals into Tauranga

had to do a go around, bit of a traffic jam on the runway, dash 8 had just landed and was trying to exit the runway but was giving way to a beech1900 that was waiting to come onto the runway and take off but the beech was giving way to me on landing, so everyone was sitting still accept for me of course who was coming in to land. You can't see them on this picture for some reason but anyways

no troubles this time round, all clear

Once again holding, every man and his dog is out today

Full stop landing and at the gate in Tauranga, think ill stay over night and go see the folks.

so that concludes my first major post on these forums, have been a long time reader though. Any tips on flying the A-321 would be great, also any tips on my picture taking, you guys seem to get some awesome shots! also im not really sure if this is the kinda thing you guys post on here, havent really looked over many of the flight threads.

Cheers

Cheers, yeah i have repaints for other aircraft but that is the first ride ive been for in an airbus, generally i cruise round in the 737, but i thought id try something new. Yeah i love the Real New Zealand scenery, looks awesome. Need some more for the airports not included tho, no one seems to make airports for fsx. The standard airports are pretty bland, the smaller ones anyways. Made another quick flight from Tauranga to Hamilton Tonight, thought id put the pictures up.

Departure from Tauranga

Arrival into Hamilton, after three go arounds, twice for the same 172 who just didn't want to leave the runway!

Popular place! i feel a little out of place to be honest though

Hi there Goose. I recommend Photobucket as a great place to store your pics, they change bmp in jpg automatically when uploading them into the site and also retain the image quite well. Also alot of guys here do the standard 800 by 600 for screenshots which can also be automatically set at photobucket as well when uploading.

Great to see you sharing your shots with us! Look forward to seeing more.

Love the last picture! plane.gif

Cheers Piper, yeah the first pictures flying out of Taupo, which was small but not as small as the two airfields i just went to, Whangarei and Keri Keri, Took a few tries to set the big beast down but once i was on the ground i stopped with room to spare, struggled to take off from whangarei tho as i forgot to set flaps ohmy.gif will post the pics up later on 2nite if i get the chance. Got a little over excited at Auckland international and took a lot of pics!

Heh, cool pics, looks like you're having fun getting into those smaller spots. Reminds me of the time I spent an arvo landing Concorde and 747's at Hamilton thumbup1.gif

Nicely done :-)

If you want a really good approach for your next fun evening, try runway 33 at Castlegar in Canada after installing this scenery file.

Here's where you're going, the top picture is fs9 default and the bottom is with Holger's scenery installed, and you're looking at runway 15 (the 'easy' end).

Here's an approach chart - click on it to open it full size in a new window.

The runway is 5300' long, to assist in choosing a suitably challenging ride Invercargill is 5600' and Tauranga is 5900'.

Best I managed was a 767, I managed to stop with the front of the plane over the grass at the other end but the nose gear still on the seal after sliding down the hill with the radio altimeter showing less than 100' in places blink.gif We won't talk about the 727 ... Or the 747 ... Or even the B200 which was quite embarrassing because it's the flight in the B200 tutorial laugh.gif

Hope that gives you some ideas winkyy.gif

Cheers

Cheers man, ill have to give that a crack, the run way is def long enough but the approach looks like a bit of a tough one! The two runways i just went to on my last trip, Keri Keri and Whangarei were extremely short, 1097 metres for Whangarei and 1190 metres for keri keri, but i managed to stop the airbus in time. Will have a go at a later date and let you know how it goes. Does the scenery file work for fsx? or just fs9?

Here is the next part of my trip, went with the airbus again as it is the title of the thread smile.gif went from Hamilton to Keri Keri, via Auckland international and Whangarei. Tried using photobucket this time, but i think it reduced the images a bit much. Will try and get it right next time

Not a bad line up on the apron in Hamilton, at least i don't feel so out of place this time

As usual everyone wants to leave at once

On my way out of the tron

Enroute to Auckland

Getting ready to turn onto finals into Auckland International

Glide path looks good

A touch before the threshold but all in all im happy with that landing!

Got a little snap happy around the apron, so many things to see!!

Detached the jet way and pushing back

Holding as an emirites 777 lands

On the road again

Heading over Auckland City

In the cruise towards Whangarei, Stayed at around 4000 ft to enjoy the view

I had to make a quick pass of the airport to make sure the runway was clear, they don't tend to talk much on the radio up this way

On finals, after two go arounds, 1st because i was going to overshot, second because i was going to undershoot, took a bit of getting right!

Touching down, slightly off centre but just glad to be on the runway

Even stopped with plenty of room

Not much of a terminal here, they might need to do something about that

Cut it a little close on takeoff, forgot to lower the flaps ohmy.gif

On my way to the bay of islands

Another quick flyby, the place look deserted!

On finals, again for the third time, these small airports are hard to judge, first time i touched down but there was no way i could stop in time, so went to full power and decided to try again

Jesus that was close, didn't think it was going to stop!, had full flaps, full speed brakes and the engines in full reverse!!!

Parked up for the day, might do a few more hops in the 737 but for now might leave the airbus in the hanger, or at the very least try out a more colourful paint, to many anz planes at the airports, funny that, lol

Funny you should say that, here's me over Lake Taupo last night about the time you posted ...

Looks as though there is no FSX version of the Castlegar scenery I linked to but there are alternatives, have a quick search and see what you can come up with.
