These two aircraft have been flying in and out of Woodbourne over the past couple of days which has been great.
Not sure why they are here but a great sight indeed.
One is flying in a colour scheme similar the the USAF C-17.
Am looking at photographing a wider range of aircraft from here on instead of just Warbirds as if it flies I am interested so will see how we go.

I think they are over for training as they are doing circuits at many aerodromes round the country.

Yesterday I saw it at Queenstown doing touch and goes
Today I saw it at Rotorua before it left to Napier
Later on today there was another coming in here and then off to Napier

Here is a post from mrcaviation...

Two Royal Australian Air Force Lockheed C130J's arrived at Woodbourne from Richmond via Christchurch this evening in the form of A97-450 (Ausy 783) and A97-467 (Ausy 784). Aaron Murphy captured both aircraft on arrival at Christchurch with A97-450 pictured wearing the 'new' grey sceme.[/quote]

With Christchurch as a stepping stone to the ice and having the ex US Navy LC's , the USAF s replacement aircraft and the many others including RNZAF , NZCH is a herky mecca ...you sorta could not wait for that drone of the earlier Alison , it was 6/8 months back i first saw my first J model fly out .. all the airshows since its debut never seen one fly till then ...... your second photo is exactly the way i saw it .. said this before , i thought it was two ATRs taken off , lost that sweet Herc sound , at least it still has the look smile.gif

All I can say Gavin .. JUST KEEP SHOOTING , im one of many who are just enjoying every pic posted cool.gif

Great pics, what shutter speed did you use to capture the prop like that in pictures 1 and 3?

Great photos as usual Gavin!
They seem to have a certain atmosphere about them,
The last three almost look like fiji or something during the beginnings a tropical cyclone biggrin.gif

I didnt see any overshoots etc but these take offs were quite impressive.

Yip, they kicked a lot of stuff around when they took off, was hoping the contrails would be longer but never mind.
