Try lowering your graphics settings a little -- I think this is caused by overloading your system. For me, it's the cars in the carpark -- I need to use lower settings otherwise I only see shadows.
What are your system specs?

Hmm, it shouldn't be possible to overload that system -- I've had some reports of missing textures on low-end systems (mainly 128MB graphics) but this is normally fixed by resetting the graphics settings to the default 'bucket' settings.

That's not really a solution, the crowd is an Acceleration object. Placing it in Addon Scenery would just double up the GUID, which would do more harm than good.

I think that the crowd is there, it's just that the texture doesn't show. Originally I had twice the number of people, but a few people had trouble with them not displaying, so I dropped it back to just the one crowd object, and this solved it for most testers. However there is something going on here, FSX does tend to drop some objects out at times, and I've put it down to stress. The cars by the airside fence are another object which tends to come and go depending on system specs and settings. They tend to appear about 20% of the time on my system, but I only have a 128MB graphics card.

I have done a fair amount of research on this, but I think that this is just one of the many display bugs in FSX. I'll keep looking for a solution, but this is related more to the way that FSX organises textures than a scenery issue.

Would be worth a try -- let me know how you get on. Do you use Object Placement Tool? If you do, try loading the airshow mission -- Missions\Just for Fun\WanakaAirshow.xml -- and let me know if the crowd appears in OPT. I think you'll find it will.
(It's probably best to edit the mission to delete the existing crowd and add your own, however you should back-up the mission first as it is real easy to wreck a mission by reckless editing:)

DO remember to uninstall any cobbled-over previous versions of Wanak/Tekapo...interesting effects if you don't...

Ah, yes, because there was no official port to FSX, I didn't cover this in the manual, but you would need to delete the two folders -- RealNZwanaka and Tekapo2 -- before installing.
Did you watch Monk this afternoon? This reminded me how pleased I was to get rid of the old Tekapo2 folder, and bring it into line with other Real NZ releases.
