Flugsimulation Article on Freeware NZ Scenery/Airports/Repaints/Aircraft

An area to discuss scenery addons for virtual NZ

Postby Naki » Sat Sep 20, 2008 11:10 pm

Check this out. Looks like a great summary on freeware NZ scenery, airports, plus a few repaints available for FS9 - wish I could read German - might try the language converter on it - any of our German members willing to translate? Mentions amongst other things Robins freeware scenery, some of Lawries airports, Deanes Fletcher etc etc

Hi,
I´m willing, but it´s to much stuff. The author is a fan of NZL and had a trip over 4 month there (like me). At the beginning he describes the special features of the land.
I think it´s not necessary to translate the whole text, important are the links.
First he recommends the 75m mesh and the landclass but he is mentioning the remaining problems. He finds it´s difficult to install the whole Static Objects Library to use the sceneries from Lawrie Roache (I don´t think so). You find links to repaints from Islander, DC3 and the link to the wonderful Fletcher from Deane Baunton too. On the NZL-map are shown the available airports (red) and sceneries (green).
Mr. Meyer likes especially the sceneries from Christchurch, Queenstown, Kaikoura and recommends a flight through the valleys around Mt. Cook.
I know, this it´s not a perfect translation but maybe it can help to use this article.
Best regards from Germany in autumn

Thanks Sandman that gives a good summary of the article -I've translated it through Google - not ideal but readable:

Global Pilots: New Zealand

About
New Zealand, three-hour flight east of Australia, is a small paradise.

Covering an area of about two-thirds of its German equivalent, live four million inhabitants - one-twentieth of the Germans. They are distributed, together with 50 million sheep, on two islands, the North and the South Island.
The North Island is closer to the equator and therefore has a tropical climate, green rainforests and beautiful beaches. They also reveal New Zealand's Origin: On her cavort dozens still active volcanoes.
The South Island rather similar to our Central and Northern Europe. Here you'll find the rugged mountains, picturesque hills and thousands of small and large fjords again.

Before 1769 James Cook became the first Englishman entered New Zealand, populated the Polynesian Maori natives the country, which as Aotearoa ( "the land of big white cloud") know. Since then much has happened: New Zealand became a British colony and the Maori were on behalf of the Queen expropriated, to the hardest fought and suppressed.

Nevertheless, some tribes, and win today, the Native American influence again: Maori is recognized as an official language and is taught in schools again, many cities and areas are again with their Maori name means and Maori radio, television and various festivals and Traditions are from everyday life.

I was allowed themselves four months in New Zealand spend. Therefore, it is for me a special pleasure to you this wonderful and enormously diverse country closer to something. If you are a few real impressions interested in cruising will find this on my website: http://www.planepics.org/reiseberichte/neuseeland.html

Getting Ready

Mesh and Land Class
To the beauties of this country comes near to be able to represent, is a mesh required. Besides some Payware variants is particularly freeware 75m mesh of Red Baron to recommend. It covers the entire country and is the reality very well after. From the same manufacturer is also against charging an accurate 20m mesh available.

Download (51MB, but worth every byte): http://www.geographx.co.nz/downloads/mesh75.zip

Even the country Class is absolutely necessary, because it changed the landscape considerably. Only through this file is from the New Zealand government to dusty desert oasis, which is also in reality. In addition, the addon adjusts the color of the lakes the real role models and brings otherwise some welcome improvements.
Download: http://www.simpilotexperience.com/media/nzlc.zip

Problems
Microsoft New Zealand was very scant. With the mesh while much can be compensated, but there are some very fundamental errors that are simply not be eliminated. Consequently, in some places very strange landscapes, steeply sloping cliffs, uneven lakes and other unpleasant things. This, inter alia, at Mount Cook Airport (NZMC) and Queenstown (NZQN). The "Fix NZ Lakes", in the installation files on these two airports Addons (see below) is included, alleviates the problem somewhat, but the errors can not quite resolve. This has unfortunately we live.

Scenarios based on "Static Object Libraries"
A very hardworking member of the New Zealand community has benefited from almost every airport of the country scenery created. Unfortunately, however, he has this with the programs Rwy12 "and" EZ-designer "using their objects made. This means that all libraries must be downloaded separately - what for me solid 90 minutes and took some nerve.
The other, but this also means that the airports do not correspond to the originals, since no specific objects and buildings were used, but just these standard objects.
Mir unveils the sense, especially the relationship between income and expenses of these works, therefore, not entirely, so I've renounces it. If someone has taken the trouble to take, he will be at AVSIM under the name Lawrie Roache find.
From the location of the Airports her highly recommended is especially Milford Sound (NZMF) deep in a fjord, next to the regional airports of New Plymouth (NZNP) at the prestigious Mount Taranaki and Taupo (NZAP) at the beautiful, gleichamigen lake.

Charts and routes
The New Zealand AIP is fully available online. The link below to find all the necessary maps: http://www.aip.net.nz/NavWalk.aspx?section=CHARTS
Tip: For many airports found a map called "default route Clearences." In this are the officially established air routes between airports, in most cases must be the route itself is not tinkering. The routes are both after the last two letters of the ICAO code of the designated airports. The route leads WNAA of Wellington (NZWN) to Auckland (NZAA)

Aircraft

Airliner in New Zealand
Who New Zealand in the cockpit of a virtual Airliners visit, you should have no problems, a suitable aircraft to find, because Air New Zealand has a highly diversified fleet Park.

Competition is Air New Zealand mainly by the Qantas offshoot JetConnect, the Boeing 737-300 and -400 from the three hubs on busy routes is underway.
The frills airlines Pacific Blue, an offshoot of Australia's Virgin Blue and thus a member of Richard Branson's Virgin Group, operated with 737-800 the turnstiles and tourists strongholds of New Zealand and offers flights to various Pacific islands such as Fiji and Vanuatu as well as Australia.
On the regional market, especially with Vincent Dash8 Airways and Air National Beech1900 and with BAe Jetstream aircraft active.

Echt New Zealand: The Fletcher FU-24

The FU-24 is a New Zealand agricultural aircraft, which mainly in fertilizer large fields from the air is used. This method is extremely popular in New Zealand and is practiced by many farmers. The Fletcher is in this version of two-plane, which by a turboprop or a piston engine, and on STOL properties. The production began in 1954 and lasted until 1992. Still, these aircraft because of their excellent properties the backbone of the New Zealand agricultural aviation.

There is an excellent implementation of Deane Baunton for FSX and FS9, which have an extremely detailed virtual cockpit, a very attractive exterior model and matching sounds available. Because of their power and agility is the flight pass with this huge aeroplane - the download, I can only recommend it!

27MB: http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?Ca ... LID = 117510

Repaint for the Sim

Away from the big machine, there are some machines that are for the exploration of New Zealand media. Extremely popular for round and scheduled flights are the Britten Norman Islander BN-2A and Trislander aircraft. There is a very good implementation, including virtual cockpit and beautifully focused sounds of the German Marcel Kuhnt. For those planes I have three repaint ones.
For the twin Islander, these are the textures of the Great Barrier Airlines, which operates the Auckland region and from Milford Sound Flightseeing to ricochet in the fjords of South Island offers.
For the Trislander there is also a painting in the Great Barrier colors.

Who likes it stylishly, for could repaint the standard DC-3 in the colors of the Royal New Zealand Air Force adequate.

The Big Cities

New Zealand's beauty is clearly not in its cities, but in the vast countryside in between. So I am trying, the cities nutshell to be treated, so we as soon as possible, the mythical nature can devote.

Auckland
Auckland has approximately one million inhabitants by far the largest city in the country, thanks to the location at sea and the many parks is the quality of life but still very high.
Because of its international airport, with around 13 million passengers a year by far the largest of the country is Auckland for most New Zealand tourist gateway to the country.
Air New Zealand operates here its international hub, the flight connections go Others Los Angeles, London, as well as in countless major Asian cities. But other companies, notably Qantas and the major Asian airlines fly daily to Auckland.

Scenery
"Auckland 2005" from Saverne Reweti, Dean Baunton and Shayne Butler
31MB: http://library.avsim.net/download.php?DLID=61853

The heart of the scenery is, of course, the international airport in Auckland. The layout true, all the important buildings are where they belong and see the originals fairly similar. Nevertheless, the scenery can not hide the fact that they originally for FS2002 has been created, since it is fairly simple knitted. In addition to the many static aircraft (which deals with a few simple steps can disable), it offers not many "eye Candies." Nett, however, that some of the docking systems.
The airport is certainly not a gem, despite all the download is always a good thing. Because the scenery includes many more things:

Thus, the CBD, the city, fairly faithfully reconstructed. In the center stands the 328-meter-high Sky Tower, the tallest building in the southern hemisphere. But the surrounding skyscrapers were integrated and type, albeit very rudimentary designed a coherent picture, the recognition is great.

Furthermore, the scenery consists of more landmarks, the city's huge on the surface are scattered: Various rugby stadiums, the war museum, the elegant Harbor Bridge and the port facilities. In the bay commute even the ferries (in original colors!) Between the city and the Nobel District Devenport back and forth.

In the scene are also included other small airfields in the area. Especially the Ardmore airfield, about 30 km south of Auckland. He is a popular place for VFR flights, but also some business jets to land here. Quality and degree of detail are also very limited, but still.
Slightly more, the other, also emulated airfields Whenuapai, Hobsonville, North Shore and from Pikes Point. There were usually only a few buildings added. Something is better managed, however, the implementation of the heliports Mechanics Bay on the Port of Auckland.

All in all, the scenery is certainly not a feast for the eyes. Especially with the many landmarks evaluates the territory but still enormously to calm can be recommended for download. Even those who only at the international airport lands should make use of it. Today 32 megabytes is also no longer all over the world.

Christchurch

Christchruch in the middle of the South Island, is the third largest city in New Zealand with around 350,000 inhabitants. Unlike Auckland, it is also very idyllic town: No skyscrapers, which could tarnish the image, for various parks and the River Avon, which is leisurely moves through the landscape.
With its proximity to the spectacular landscapes of the South Island but Christchurch also a popular destination for Direct intercontinental flights. This land at the airport just outside the city, around 5 million passengers handles. The airport also is also the basis of several Antarctica expeditions, which is why he also repeatedly by military and civilian cargo aircraft will be busy.

OR

Christchurch Airport from standalone NZScenery
42MB: http://nzscenery.com/files/fs2004-files ... nstall.exe

Unlike Chritchurch Auckland is a veritable feast for the eyes. An enormously high degree of detail haucht the airport much life, and it is a joy to explore and go. Branches of the transporters and car rentals on countless promotional posters to the park machines is everything here.
The fotorealen soil textures (but no specific advance textures included) improve the impression from a bird's eye still equal to a multiple. Finger docks are of course well, even if admission systems unfortunately missing. The local Aeroclub was (and original gas station) are also adding to the VFR fans will find their homes here.

Anyone who wants to explore region, which was "Canterbury Real Photo" to heart. This freeware package, which included the airport has already provides photo textures for an area of approximately 90x70km around Christchurch. The bulk make the pot flat Canterbury Plains from the granary of New Zealand. Risch fly because of the lack of relief only interesting, but the implementation is not bad for freeware.
The textures, originated from black-colored images, and occasionally colors are in fact somewhat strange. Also, big ups from trains and large squares with different shades visible, creating the impression something clouds. But flying VFR and quite deep, it almost does not bother.

The jewel of the scene is the Christchurch before losing Banks Peninsula, a peninsula of volcanic origin. It offers beautiful hills, hidden coves and picturesque villages. They also worth a trip flight simulator, because thanks to the implementation fotorealen you can explore it perfectly.

Christchurch and Canterbury scene can then, if they look at the plate is the heart of the Flusianers surely beat. Freeware for the airport offers an extremely high degree of detail, and the photo scenery is not bad parents.

Wellington

Wellington, eingepfercht between hills and sea at the end of the North Island, is the capital and cultural center of the country. The second largest city in New Zealand is home to 450,000 inhabitants good.
The central location also helps Wellington's airport into an important position. On a narrow spit of land built, the runway is just 2 kilometers (6'647ft) long and can not absorb large aircraft. Sun developed especially for Wellington Regional, where the ATRs, Saab 340 and Beech 1900D in all directions swarming. Despite everything, it brings the Airport proud to 4.6 million passengers a year.
The short track, surrounded by water on both ends, and the often strong gusts (some might remember the video, in which only by the wind one at Gate standing Boeing 737 was umhergeschoben) Wellington to make a real challenge - and the slogan of the Airports fits like a glove: "Wild at Heart"

Wellington and Building Autogen add-on from Heath Wells
2MB: http://library.avsim.net/download.php?DLID=71256

Anyone who would like the challenge, finds the airport scene with a successful implementation of the wild airport. Although it is far less playful and detailed as that of Christchurch, but all the buildings are in place and in some nachmodelliert faithfully, though the textures quality are only average. Especially the photorealen soil textures bring a large piece of realism. The scene-referenced in the good midfield and may comforted the way to find the plate.

Who little more time in Wellington wants to spend, which is expected for photo interested in real update. It covers an area of 30x30 kilometers, of which the majority is very hilly area. This naturally makes her a lot when overflight, even if the shade when the black coloring pictures a bit too brown is advised.
Who but only approaches to the airport would like to practice, needs the scenery is certainly not, because with mesh and provides the environment autogenous otherwise quite decent.

For total Wellington fans still recommends the 2 megabytes package with some (few!) Buildings for the city. It is, for example, the Beehive, the Parliament building, as well as the "cake tin", the Westpac Stadium. Other characteristic building as the national museum Te Papa, I could not espy. Sightseeing is the addon that is suboptimal, homesickness-Welling toner but it could be interested.

Pure Nature

For fans volcano
One of the many natural attractions of New Zealand are his countless volcanoes, some even are still active. Most of them are located in the center of the North Island in the Taupo Volcanic Zone.

Godzone Turangi Real Photo
by Robin Corn, 38MB: http://library.avsim.net/download.php?DLID=89569

This photo scenery also plays in that region and discusses the two still active volcano Mount Tongariro (1968m) and Mt Ngauruhoe (2291m).
As a starting point is the small airport of Turangi, the gravel on a short runway and has 20 kilometers of the volcano is located nordnordwestlich. Who's with something bigger device is on, should be excluded from the idyllic regional airport at the same Lake Taupo start (about 55km to the volcanoes). From this airport, there is an implementation, as this standard but countless additional objects, the download is not recommended (see above).

The photo scenery is a real feast for the eyes, especially thanks to the dense Autogen. It covers the entire region by the beautiful Lake Taupo in the north to the two volcanoes in the south. Pleasure to meet you dream, from small streams mixed coastal landscapes. Quickly come picturesque hills as a harbinger of the volcanoes in the picture. At the end of waiting finally the two imposing mountains, the real role models and colors correspond very well.

Thus, VFR flying really appealing. The photo scenery offers little room variety landscapes and makes this quality dar. The download is absolutely recommend!

Mount Taranaki / Egmont Real Photo
by Robin Corn, 41MB: http://library.avsim.net/download.php?DLID=79787

Another volcano can be found on the west coast near New Plymouth, it is the 2518 meter high Mount Egmont, the indigenous Maori name Mount Taranaki. Imposing he stands in perfect shape from the surrounding flat out otherwise. A volcano in the book as he stands so that even in several Hollywood productions to be seen.

He is clearly also the big (and only) attraction of this photo scenery. But downloading all worth it. Taranaki loses little of its real Imposanz, and it is fun, with small and large device in the face of this mighty mountain to fly. From time to time, the color of the surrounding scenery in shallow something special, forget the fast but if you look at the majestic spell in Taranaki is located.
As starting points are the regional airports of New Plymouth as well as the little VFR place Stratford. From both the volcano is already easy to see (so the weather playing along) and can not be missed. The distance from both places is about 20 miles.

For the airfields New Plymouth and Stratford, there would be Addon scenery. These require a whole lot of Rwy12 and EZ-scene objects, are only very conditionally recommended.

Coastal Areas

The South Island of New Zealand has many wonderful coastal scenery. Robben and seals bask on rocks in the sea, penguins waddle along the shore, albatrosses circling over some impressive cliffs and beautiful beaches invite to the sun.
Even if the fauna in the way the flight simulator, unfortunately, not (yet) has found, it was nevertheless some of the breathtaking landscapes photo real implemented. The best two areas I would like to imagine.

Kaikoura
Airfield & photo real scenery by Robin Corn
3.4 MB: http://library.avsim.net/download.php?DLID=54591
Fix the runway to the right place sets: http://library.avsim.net/download.php?DLID=54637

Kaikoura, a small town on the east coast, some 150 kilometers north of Christchurch, is known for its whale-watching. As the sea shortly after steep falls the coast, some sperm whales are always present, and hordes of tourists to book Walsafaris by boat or plane to take a look at the giants to erhaschen. This thriving not only the small village, but also his equally cute airfield.

The term "small is beautiful" fits like a glove at Kaikoura. The tiny, wooden main building of the airport was with a lot of attention to detail, adding, including the adjacent Aeroclub was not forgotten. Some shrubs and trees, billboards and parking cars round the beautiful picture.
Even the photo scenery can be seen. Although it only covers an area of about 20x20 km. That is all the more pleasant, with the idyllic village of Kaikoura directly on the beach and the small, very interesting scenic peninsula before.

For the small file size to get a real little gem delivered, access is not damaging.

Timaru
Airport: By Robin Corn, 5.6 MB: http://library.avsim.net/download.php?DLID=45723
Photo scenery: City of Timaru, Heath Wells, 30MB: http://library.avsim.net/download.php?DLID=68126

Timaru 150 miles south of Christchurch and also on the east coast, has been especially significant because of its cargo and fishing port some significance. To the city, just under 30,000 inhabitants, is also a small airport, which regularly from Wellington and Christchurch with Beech 1900D will be served.

Also this airport was designed by Robin Corn very nicely implemented. Although he does not sprayed as much charm as Kaikoura, but the building of the airport nearby farms are all there, as of course the cute terminal. Those on the regional aviation is found Timaru with a worthwhile goal, for example, for a very short flight from Christchurch.

The airport is nestled in the photo scenery from Heath Wells, a coastal strip of about 100 kilometers (north-south) and 20 kilometers wide release. "Unfortunately", the country is still very flat, spectacular scenery are solely those nice, mäandrierenden rivers, which flow into the sea and the city of Timaru, with its emulated port. The very successful autogenous provides coverage then but even for a few eye-catcher, so it creates a very harmonious overall picture.

Starting in the mountains

Now we penetrate to the heart of scenic New Zealand before. The South Island is the length of a vast mountain chain, the Southern Alps, crossed. Amid the rugged landscapes found turquoise glacial lakes and picturesque villages. Here comes one by one with nature to be - hiking, climbing, or in New Zealand expresses popular Flightseeing. And then there are also some nice airports, which we visit.

Queenstown
Airport: Queenstown Intl Airport by Peter Lohr, 13MB: http://library.avsim.net/download.php?DLID=62243
Foto Scenery: Queenstown real photo update by Robin Cornwall, 30MB: http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?DL ... fs2004scen
Autogenous Improvement: Queenstown Autogen of Heath Wells, 1.3 MB: http://library.avsim.net/download.php?DLID=73264

The small town, which counts about 10,000 residents, is growing in the high season in summer and winter around the multiples on. Tourists from all over New Zealand and throughout the world flock here because they are presumed to be "Adventure Capital of the World". The somewhat calmer minds meanwhile admire the beautiful location of the town on the shores of Lake Wakatipu and blue in the face of monumental remarkable mountain chain.

The Frankton of Queenstown Airport is not only the basis for the Flightseer, Skydivers and all other adrenaline junkies. He also serves as a gateway into the region fjord country and has flights to all major New Zealand airports as well as individual connections to Australia. He may fliers to the size of a record 737, and the GPS approach (see charts section above) is also old hands always a challenge.

Peter Lohr Queenstown is a true masterpiece succeeded. The spark jumps immediately to the Simmer on. Not only were all very realistic and building high quality embedded into the scenery, including the golf course and the shopping center next to the Airport: Many small details continue to evaluate what's going on. Billboards advertise for the various scenic flights, cars in the parking lot curves around, helicopters and Hang-Glider move through the picture. The strenuous approach that is all worth it - and download the same.

Airpot in the scene is a small part of the surrounding photonic integrated real, the update package but provides a slightly larger area of 30x40 km. That's enough for one level, the picturesque southwest of the airport, the other for no less imposing surroundings of the city center. From here the view across the winding Lake Wakatipu, on the slopes of the remarkable mountain chain, or even the animated paddle steamer, which was also his way to the scene found.
Once again a wonderful place, which Robin Corn has implemented here, and the download also makes very worthwhile.

Wanaka Real Photo
by Robin Corn, 26MB: http://library.avsim.net/download.php?DLID=40023

Our second stop is the little brother of Queenstown, the small but bustling airport of Wanaka. Dozens of tourist companies from here daily sightseeing flights in the mountains and the fjords on the west coast. Especially on New Year's Day (ie the middle of summer in New Zealand) bursts of small-3000-place souls from all seams, as the largest New Year's Eve party around the country including giant open-air rises. Aircraft is supporters of the city but also because of the popular Airshow "Warbirds Over Wanaka" a term which takes place every two years.

Once again Robin brings us closer to this area, corn, even if this scene unfortunately lacks the airport (this is the Payware variant reserved). But even as the scenery has a lot to offer. Although it covers only an area of 30x40 kilometers, but the mountain scenery, you get to see here, make this more than just competitive. In addition to the idyllic Lake Wanaka and the eponymous town on its shores - a very wonderful environment, and the download is worthwhile here too.

Airport & Tekapo Lake Tekapo Photo Real
by Robin Corn, 23MB: http://library.avsim.net/download.php?DLID=75979

The Lake Tekapo, a glacial lake, which is west of Christchurch at the beginning of the Southern Alps, is a popular tourist destination. This is mainly because of its turquoise color, Guthirtkirche directly to his bank (Japanese popular with wedding parties) and also because of the wonderful view of the mountains.
On its edge is the small "Tekapo Aerodrome," which also is part of the scenery.
He is really small, very small. Exactly a hangar and a tiny building with a tower along the Apron. Initially, the airport has a little cold, at least one is by Robin Corn more details usual. It seems, however, that there simply were no longer to implement. By inserting a detailed gas station, an advertising board at the diversion from the main road and a parked car was real model probably exhausted.
But the airport also serves as a springboard into the beautiful surroundings. The Lake Tekapo shines in beautiful turquoise, his flanks are the first recognizable mountain ranges, while in the distance, many more mountains to wait. Again, this photo scenery is again very successful, the autogenous fits perfectly even one. Just a pity that the covered area is pretty small, because in this area could be endlessly fly!

But even so Tekapo is certainly worth a download, but it is so close to our next and last-place and is thus ideal for a VFR flight.

Mount Cook Village & Airport
by Peter Lohr, 2.5 MB: http://library.avsim.net/download.php?DLID=77678

Mount Cook (or Aoraki in Maori) is the name of the 3754m with New Zealand's highest mountain. On his foot, in a very barren and gottverlassenen valley is the Mount Cook Village - a tourist village with a five-star hotel (also home to the only supermarket), a youth hostel and some apartments. From here, walking in the neighborhood offered.
Whoever it may be cozy, books a flight from nearby Mount Cook Airport - and exactly we will now also attend.

The handwriting of Peter Lohr, of which the Queenstown scenery comes, is instantly recognizable. Cars on the main road between the airport and park and even centimeter precisely in the parking lot. Some static aircraft adorn the Apron. Wegschilder and ban billboards (in the original design of the National Organization) are on every corner to see. On small calculated advance is the very basismässige terminal, extravagance must be in the barren mountains anyway not expected. With all these gimmicks, Peter Lohr turn a great little scene created which, I must admit, a thousand times more vivid and colorful, as his real counterpart.
The Mount Cook Village, which is also in the scenery, is fairly complete. From the mass stings especially the not-too-beautiful building of the Hermitage hotel out what the reality comes very close.
Pity that there is no field for this photo scenery there.

Viel Spass!

Thanks Sandman that gives a good summary of the article -I've translated it through Google - not ideal but readable:

Hmmm,................. seems like im not very popular with the Germans,.......................
Cant please all of the people , all of the time i suppose....................
At least he liked the NZMF, NZNP, and NZAP sceneries.............. better than nothing i suppose.............

Thanks Sandman............. ones better than none ! laugh.gif

Guys,....... it actually doesnt worry me whether people like them or not.
This is the FREEWARE world,.......... if they dont like them, they can just un-install them,.......... no harm done.
I only started uploading my sceneries after prompting from a fellow simmer and friend here in Tauranga, who saw some of my New Zealand sceneries in my sim, and asked where he could get them from. When i told him that they were ones i had built myself, he said they were good enough to upload for others to use.
Many of my sceneries were built many years before i actually upoaded them. Some of my early Runway-12 type sceneries are over 5 years old.
So, i did, and i have, and i will continue to upload them, for anyone that cares to use them.
I originally started building them for myself only, as New Zealand was the ugliest, most barren, incorrect and worst catered for country in the FS world.
They were meant as replacements for the ugly and boring and incorrect default airports that FS had deigned to place in our little country, and for those that they DIDNT see fit to place at all. They are not meant to be photoreal accurate sceneries, exact down to the last detail. But,......... in most cases, are a 1000% improvemnet over what Microsoft does , or doesnt have in the sim. I kept it simple, using objects from available libraries that are close in design, shape and colour to the real thing here in NZ, as i dont have the tools, or the time to do photoreal custom stuff.
I guess, after many years of taking freeware stuff, i just wanted to put something back into the FlightSim community, as a thank-you, and a tribute to all the other freeware designers and builders that have spent countless hours, helping to improve our FS world for all of us.
