are there any freeware programs for fs2004 to improve framerates??

Yup tweaks to the CFG are the key plus settings like with graphic cards and within the slider settings ,lowering things help like traffic /clouds /traffic is always a killer

You can also find resized textures at avsim for things like clouds and autogen. Search this guy at avsim "Bart Dylkiewicz" and you'll find plenty to help frame rates.

and you could certainly use the freewareSmartClose which can temporary stop unnecessary windows services and other applications, and restore them after you finished flying. It gave me +20% performance !!!

Just downloaded and tried this, and it's fantastic! I used to start a flight at 20FPS (locked) and end it at about 10 FPS ~30 mins later, sibnce getting this I've just been flying for 2 hours and still at 20FPS!
