Anyone looking at Ohakea or Whenuapai for FSX? Wouldn't it be cool to be able to fly from the fantastic Real NZ Woodbourne to another equally fantastic RNZAF Base (instead of just doing circuits of Woodbourne)? Sorry to be the sqwaking hatchling in the nest - I know you scenery designers are all busy making other great scenery (and we consumers are most appreciative indeed, keep up the fine work).

Snowman's done Palmerston North, but near by is Fielding airstrip, would be good to see Fielding airstrip made for FS.

Whenuapai is on my list of things to do since I fly from there.....Im not sure how detailed it will be but I can release the updated files (proper runways and taxiways, library hangers etc) in the mean time.

If you use FS9 then Whenuapai is on Avsim.....it doesnt work too well in FSX though

it would be good to have some 'fictional' RNZAF bases. our air force is dimishing and having more bases and more RNZAF AI would be really inspiring!

If you research , you will find many bases , US and others included ... rather fictional .. more the the date of proposal , or it devolpment during the period.

Pity that they seem to be closing half of them down. I hope they don't get rid of Whenuapai completely, a civil/military airport would be fine. But once you let them go they're horribly tricky to get back...

Times change. There was once an era when anyone interested in Rail in New Zealand witnessed the same thing. Branch lines getting closed, services being taken away - Northerner, Southerner, Bay Express. Now, the tide has turned and they are re-opening lines as well as expanding the existing rail network.

Like you, I hate seeing bases close but they could still come back. It's only when they re-use the land for something else that the chance of the base coming back truly disappears.

Just thought i'd add a Scenery. i know this has been designed before but it would be ace if someone would be up to the challenge to recreating Invercargill Airport. as i said i know its already been created but maybe an update would be on the cards? if i had the know how and knwledge then i would be onto this licktey split! just a thought. but im sure there a tons of rural airstrips that can be faithfully rerecreated. thumbup1.gif

Cheers guys

If you are using FS9, Ian's Invercargill could be worth looking at (at Avsim). But for FSX I don't think there is anything as yet. winkyy.gif

It may be a little dated .... consider the photo material i had to work with ... Murray Hall did the wicked fantastic area photo with eye to suit the township FLIGHTSIM.COM

Sure is better than your default inver
