Hi,

I am looking to dowload a freeware general aviation aicraft that does not take up alot of memory. Something like a Piper Archer. What can you recommend?

PS: Preferably available on flightsim.

Thanks, ScottyB

Whenever I don't know exactly what I'm looking for, but I know the type (such as GA) I go to flightsim.com, select 'FS2004 GA Aircraft', type 'all' into the search bar and select 'sort by downloads' or whatever. Generally the better addons have more downloads unless they're newly uploaded, so works well. You could also try searching in Early aircraft (there's an awesome Boeing Stearman on there).

If you want something slightly bigger and faster, but with the handling characteristics of a GA machine, go into 'Turboprops' and download the TBM 700. I am using it for nearly all my FS flights right now, perfect machine for NZ.

There's many great freeware GA aircraft out there. Just have to have a search for them.

Some of my favourites from Avsim (Probably the same filename on flightsim.com too):

piper_tomahawk.zip
chipmunk2004.zip
cc13p22f.zip <---Anything else by these guys too.

Something a little bigger, and one of my all time favourites is the Howard 500.

hw5nc4.zip <--- NO VC version
hw5vc4.zip <--- Version with VC

There is no real decent freeware Piper Cherokee out there. My freeware favourites are:

This real nice Cap 10

For your standard GA plane you see down at the aerodrome I believe this Cessna 150 is one of the best

Of course there is Deane Bauntons Fletcher & Turbo Fletcher - search Baunton at Avsim

Check out Matt Hinches site http://www.fs2004.co.uk/category/freeware/general-aviation - I would go with his recommendations.

Another one you might want to try is the Realair 172 availabe at the Realair site -www.realairsimulations.com
