Awesome yeah real nice ,there are tricks you can use to capture frames better with slowing do the sim to like half or quarter speeds ,but not sure if i remember how that works with the playback recorded ,doing it though can help with the jar effect as fraps or capture software has time to record properly ..there are many others but this is what i used in the old days to make it all smooth ,sounds i just edited in at normal speeds ,,anyway food for thought
and thanks for the previews
have a look at this one i did back in day http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=55A3nxMV2Po...?showtopic=4319

Ah yes I remember that great clip. I love the haunting sound track. What is it by the way?
I was wondering about the technique you mentioned of slowing the sim down for recording and then playing it back at normal speed but I had not considered the sound aspect.
What program are you using for your video editing?
Remember the 50-50-90 rule. Anytime you have a 50-50 chance of getting something right, there's a 90% probability you'll get it wrong!

Well done Lee, great to see another Recorder convert!
I like the soundtrack, and your choice of camera tracking angle.
One thing you might try, is adding a small time delay, especially for the a2a shots.
That way they don't look as if they're nailed to the same plank.
(Although you may prefer that look for the solid-formation flyby's)
As an aside, and I'm embarrassed to ask, in the first clip, what's the third plane in the formation?

Great work Lee, you can't go wrong with the powerful shape Lancaster in your first clip. Welcome to the forums!

Thanks for the feedback guys,Awesome video Creator,Thats so smoooooth smile.gif How do you get them insane camera angles? Is that something thats limited to FSX? I like the idea of slowing the clips down to half speed and then adding the sound over the top,Im running an average spec comp with vista and it does tend to jolt about a bit with fraps going,I did something similar with sound layers to beef the sound up a bit in a few motor racing clips ive made in the past,
http://video.google.co.uk/videoplay?docid=...827816637671638
That one had about 6 layers & commentary added on too,Im guessing you would just record multiple layers for a flypast with freecorder (sound only) as you record the clip and layer them in a similar way to the clip to really beef the sound up,ive noticed that it really only picks the sound up from the lead a/c in those formations ie the Lanc & He-111,It s a new thing so ill have to try some stuff out.
Charl,i like the idea of the time delays so they are not totally rigid,It does look a bit silly from certain angles smile.gif the ju-52 looks like itshanging on for grim death at the tail of it all lol,The third a/c was a Fairey Firefly, with hurricane and lanc,
It took about 5 hours Naki,Hopefully ill get quicker the more i experiment,When time permits ill try some more out smile.gif

That was done in fs2004 and the camera angles where done with software called Walk and Follow ,plus i have a TrackIR4 that helps etc..
Sound was recorded at the same time as the clips but sound doesnt slow down when it recorded so it a matter of putting it back in the same places as the AC ,in that movie i flew all those AC and didnt use the record time ac files like in later movies just record fly record fly and playback together thats how i achieved the sound on all AC ..

music is from Nightwish Cowpatz and software i use is
sony vegas
fraps
sorenson squeeze ..

I found sony vegas a much better editing software than Adobe prem and aftereffects as you can just put them together in no time at all ,that movie would have been about 5hours start to finish and thats all you need really when it comes to FS , by the way checkout spice1 and flyhalf movies on youtube they are masters at the FS movies ...

anyway im waiting for the CT4 trainer by Nigel booth before my next FS movie ,now that will be fun
