You've got me hooked, its been a while since Ive played F4.0 but I think its about time I restarted this sim.
I assume FF5 hasn't been released but I'll try to get Red Viper(still on dial up and it looks like Red Viper was over 400mb)

Yeah it might pay to get broadband otherwise it'll take you a long time to download(or get someone else to download it for you). Good thing about RV is nice graphics and there are a lot of pits for flyable aircraft it also has JDAMs. Bad thing is the MP is quite difficult to setup. Open Falcon is the best mod for F4 but FF5 looks like it will have MP made easier and other good enhancements.

Before I commit to this lengthy download I want to install Red Viper over F4.0 Allied force, is it worth the effort.

Yes though make sure that you make a 2nd AF installation and put RV on that so you do not lose your logbook and save games etc.
Heres the install guide
Aras Install guide
The graphics incomparison are far better than AFs but make sure you install both patches.

Thanks for that SUBS17, I have started downloading, look forward to the new falcon. Just finished reading through the very entertaining and comprehensive manual for RV.

Yeah Free Falcon have made the best graphics for all of the Falcon mods the JDAM employment is interesting too quite different to how its done in OF. I also like the nude crew chicks in the B52 pit. biggrin.gif

Finally installed RV with HiTiles and looks absolutely brilliant biggrin.gif biggrin.gif (Great frame rates also) Just tweaking the sim now and trying to figure out why the airbase vehicles are out of scale(very small) and why all the training files aren't showing anymore in the tactical engagement section. I'll keep searching through the Freefalcon forums.
I can see many hours is going to be spent on RV in the coming weeks.

There have always been problems with the "default" training missions for all the different flavours of Falcon4. They're usually incompatible - and often, the respective "add-on" installs its own (duplicate) versions. May be worth perusing the [dreaded] read.me as that's where they usually tell you stuff like that.

For some reason, I'm addicted to the default ILS approach mission - probably because I can remember the days when I just could NOT land that blasted F-16 and did that mission 1,000 times before I wondered how I ever managed to crash it winkyy.gif

You can adjust the ground object scale in the setup menu.
