Looks a bit high-up to be airside. Maybe on the viewing platform at the domestic terminal?

Except the last one ... of course ...

There's a couple of people at NZFF that can get airside... jealous much?
I'd like to get some of the chances that Gavin and others get like Air 2 Airs and Airside pics. :P
:pics: by the way, and so were the others in the Ardmore thread.

Arh  Lucky thing. What were you doing up there?
Is it the ground marshalling staff room? :P
That is a pretty cool place to get pictures from.
Is that the Thomson Fly 737 in the backround? Is that still in NZ?
I thought it had gone back a few weeks ago.

The Thomsonfly 737 returned back a while ago, it was an older photo of the ramp in general.
And actually the bottom layer of the buliding in the photo is the staff room, and what was I doing up there? going the extra mile for my photographs rolleyes.gif .
just had to make sure nobody tries to move the bridge while i'm up there ohmy.gif

A few more photos from times past (aka not bloody rain, or not as much)

dash cockpit

atr cockpit

beech cockpit

If only i had a wide angle lens.
maybe mr mastercard can help me there.

Cheers

Man you are lucky. As said earlier it's nice to see all the three regional airliner cockpits.
The thrust reversers are open early on the LAN Chile A340. Thanks for another great set. Keep them coming.

More nice shots mate. The Q300 with the rainbow is pretty cool, as are the cockpit shots.
Thanks for sharing.

No they're all right, you can open them as soon as the wheels touch the ground I think? Cowpatz???

Depends on company SOPs, and aircraft- But in reality it doesnt make a really big difference, different pilots different things Id say.

Sweet shots mate, love those cockpit comparison shots!

Yeah but look at the inboard ones and consider how long it takes them to open, and you can see that the plane is literally touching down as the pic is taken. They must have been opened just before touchdown.

Sweet shots! Interesting that the Q300 cockpit is still exactly the same as VAC's cockpit!

If you look at the LH bogie you can see it is firmly on the ground. Most modern airliners have an interlock that prevents thrust reverser deployment until the main gear squat switches are activated. Nice shots.

Remember the 50-50-90 rule. Anytime you have a 50-50 chance of getting something right, there's a 90% probability you'll get it wrong!

Thanks for posting those Alex- that LAN A340 touchdown shot is super sweet... reminds me of a shot I took a while back, although with a far less superior zoom lens:

I've saved all the cockpit interior shots to my harddrive too, look forward to the next batch winkyy.gif

I was very interested in this shot as a sequel to Trolly's - reverse thrust deployed the instant main gear settles, the nosewheel way up in the air.
When I land heavy metal in the sim, I do this, and was never sure if it would be standard procedure (rather than wait until all feet were planted)
Seems you can do this, in an A340 anyway...
