my belmount could waste up a girly little skoda any day.

I'm not going to get into an argument about this because everyone knows a new Skoda Octavia RS would kill a derelict old Belmont. If anything because of the fact that you probably can't even drive it.

A Skoda RS, girly? Ha.

Yeah untill they were bought out by VW, everyone used to think that.. I remember hearing jokes such as:

What do you call a Skoda with a sun roof ?
A skip!

How do you double the value of a Skoda ?
Fill the tank!

What do you call a Skoda at the the top of a hill ?
A miracle.

Whats the first thing truck drivers do every morning, before getting into their trucks ??..............
Pick the Skoda bits out of the tyre treads !!

Skoda for life!

Haha, Snowman can attest that I am quite the sicko in my love of them...

Nothing happened fast in them (apart from braking - Why they needed twin-pot calipers on the front when there was only 53hp, I do not know)

Its all about horses for courses...
You want to haul 5 mates around when you're cruising from one party to the next, take the old Belmont B-)
You want to cover some serious distance, in comfort and without disturbing the moths and fluff in the bottom of your pocket - Take the Skoda RS

Currently the wife and I both have Euro hot-hatches - The 33 and the GTi... Soon as I flick the 33 and finalise the old 911 I'm lining up, the same decision will apply:
Bruise our kidneys and get some serious leg cramps, or take the GTi and enjoy the aircon...

hmmm 33 - how reliable??? - always wanted an Alfasud when I was younger and drove a few - amazing turn of speed for a 1.3 &1.5 in the mid 80s - also handled like it was on rails but.... they tended to turn to dust.

Finally got myself a few cheap Euros over the last few years and they cost a bloody fortune to keep on the road! Jappers for me for now - but hmm a 911.

Gimme $2k and she's all yours!
Given that it was raced in the Alfa series for a few years before being re-registered, this one has issues... airflow meter has been shagged with, ECU has a bad connection somewhere.
Not really a costly problem, but annoying (you really have to plan ahead when driving it in traffic...) Hopefully that'll be sorted in a few weeks.
Being a series 3 16v, its extremely low and stiff even compared to a Sud. As far as being reliable, I know of a series 3 that has just rolled over 600,000km with only plugs, oil+coolant and the cambelts being replaced.

My old series 2 1.7 with Webbers logged 260,000km with no issues at all (original owners are known to me and are not exactly kind to cars)

If you look in the boot of your Falcon, where the spare wheel should be, you'll find a pair of cheap running shoes..

Whats the difference between a Skoda and a tampon?

The tampon comes with its own tow rope...

I just have a sense of humour

I've also owned a couple of Ladas... Apart from the horrible single cam engine they got, I couldnt fault them - after all, they were just a license built Fiat and everybody seems to rave about what awesome little care THEY were.

I fixed the last one by removing the bumpers, slotting in a 2.0 twincam Fiat engine and diff that I found on Trademe. You do the maths... <900kg, 150(ish)bhp and you can have a whole lotta fun for under $3k

Well I have had both Holdens and Ford mainly V8s and an XR6 Turbo.
Been saving my pennys for a while and just ordered the car below, same colour stripes etc.
Pick it up when it gets to NZ in November, should be fun, well until my demerits run out anyway.
To the Holden owners, be gentle on me aye, maybe a Holden next time.

I would love to have a Ford GT40 MKIV. The best thing is that they are road legal! Actually, any of the GT40 series would be great. There arnt any Holdens I really want to have.

VAC - the latest Falcon (and the model before it) can keep up with most Euros when a corner comes up (as does the latest Commodore) - nice car Gavin!

Didn't just mean Euros! There are (gasp!) some good Jap cars out now- Try the new Mazda 6 or Mondeo.

Good to see Falcons/Commodores are catching up. Nothing beats the sound of a Falcon V8!
