Update- actually well in theory I thought it would have worked, changing those realism settings, but this is what happens after a straight take off with no rudder or aileron inputs:

I will have to have a look at some of my other aircraft CFGs and see whats different.

Turn coordinator??

Might be some utility on AVSIM

Thats a bit weird Andrew, those realism sliders made the Cessna much more flyable for me (before if I left it for 10 seconds I would have a 10-15° bank...)...

I was advised to play around with the c150 aircraft.cfg and change the yaw damper lines from 0 to 1, however I have somehow worsened the left turning problem dramatically and am wondering if anyone could please send me the original .cfg (or copy and paste it to this topic) so I can revert my damage?

Cheers.

Thanks for the .cfg Bazza, it appears to be the right one.

However, this left banking thing is really irritating me, I've crossed off all the possibilities that could be causing it:

- Unequal payload
- Uneven fuel distribution
- Wind/Turbulence
- All Realism Settings
- Autopilot heading bug
- Corrupt .air file
- Yaw dampner

Does anyone else have more suggestions as to why this may be happening?

I hesitate to even make these suggestions to a bloke with your vast experience as a leader of our forum, however, tick these points off.

1. My very ordinary joystick has two trim wheels, one for up/down and one for left/right. However, assuming you have something similar this would effect all planes if out of synch. ?

2. Considering that this plane flies very well for me, have you tried dumping and re-installing ?

3. Place a brick under the left side of your seat..

When I re-tried this plane, I thought I had the same symptom as under initial taxying power it wanted to "squirrel" off to the left. This settled down at about 40 knots.

It's good to have these major problems in life, as it stops us sweating the little things.

Just a thought... have you tried letting her rip without your joystick plugged in?

I had a similar issue last year with my X-45... unplugged, the a/c would fly straight and level.
Took the whole unit apart and blew all of my wayward cig ash and dust out of the pots, re-seated the big centering spring and it solved the problem straight away :D

The good news is that the Cessna is fine :) I loaded POP into the sim, and it went straight off and headed into the sunset, never dipping a wing.
You haven't mentioned similar problems with other aircraft, so not going to be hardware-related is it?
What makes this model special then?
I would definitely go back to the original download and re-install the model.
Delete the entire model from the a/c folder first, and overwrite gauges etc when re-installing.

Not at all, I really appreciate the other simmers with experience that I don’t have, taking the time to answer questions like these!

I tried ‘dumping and re-installing’ by deleting the original aircraft folder and reinstalling the ‘Cessna_150_L_100 hp.zip’ but there was still no change.

Next I tried disabling my joystick, then unplugging it, but my poor little 150 still banks to the left, sometimes in perfect circles, sometimes in oval loops, sometimes it varies:

This was with simulation rate set to 64x speed- however it only maxed at 16x speed because apparently autopilot was set. I tried deactivating it with ‘Z’ (my autopilot master on/off assigned key) but it didn’t allow me to set the rate to 64x still, and the message popped up again and again, telling me autopilot was activated. I’d be interested to see if others have this issue with this aircraft and perhaps that’s the cause of the left banking issue in some how? I know for sure I have no heading bug set that was causing this during my test flights this afternoon…

Under the left seat? I tried making the passenger on the right side a few pounds heavier, which resulted in a right hand bank..

Yes, the bank increases with throttle, although mine does not settle after 40 knots- what sort of power is the c150 meant to cruise at? I tend to fly it at around 90% throttle, is this not correct?

Thanks for all your help so far guys.

Depends on how fast you want to get there as to cruise speed (although there is usually a speed specified in the handbook irl...), I usually fly that Cessna about 2200rpm. :)

A thought, although Z is your master switch, perhaps you have something like heading hold turned on separately?
