Wellington Bus drivers

Just wanted to express my disgust at Wellington Bus drivers, this idiot came round a tight, blind corner at at least 40km/h (15-20 is appropriate for the corner, as I was doing) and flew right into me, buggerising the entire RHS of Mum's Brand New Skoda. That was bad enough, but then the dickhead tried to blame me for it, simply because I'm a young male driver, when he was clearly in the wrong (by the time he hit me, I had slammed on the brakes and was stopped). There was a Qantas ad on the side of the bus, which after the collision was melted onto the side of the Skoda.. Wasn't going fast..

Mum's normally a calm person, but WOW

Just a bit of the damage (phone makes it look not to bad, it's thrown the front axle out of whack as well, now the car veers to the right strongly):

Unimpressed. If I ever get on that bus..

EDIT: Saw him come past again tonight, same place, same time, same bus, when I was walking the dogs. Obviously didn't learn, roared around the corner again..

It's common, which is the sad part. I've been on buses with drivers listening to Ipods while driving..

How many people have been hit by buses in Wellington in the last year? At least 5. I'm talking serious injuries (I think there have been 3 or 4 deaths)

Did you compalin to the bus company?
Texting and listening to Ipods are a dangerous thing. You would think the company would ban them while driving, or maybe the bus drivers are breaking company policy.

it's not just bus drivers in WLG, it is every where they think they can do what they weant, over here in Brisbane, i have had to take evasive action to avoid being un over by them pulling out in front of you, even when you are beside them. seem to be a bus driver thing i guess, sucks for your mums car, mind you i have to replace two tyres and a rim today after i got run of the road going into work today, by a ute, not a bus!
In the ongoing battle between objects made of aluminum going hundreds of miles per hour and the ground going zero miles per hour, the ground has yet to lose.

Once while on the bus to work our bus driver had to turn left into a tight gap between the parked cars on the left and the cars facing towards the lights on the right. It was obvious that the bus would not be able to fit through but she put on the gas and hit a small truck park on the left side. NOW from here most of us would know to stop and first wait for the truck to pull forward but she decided to keep going forward. I was sitting on the left hand side directly behind the back door. She scrapped the entire bus along the truck and when it hit the back door ( which is all glass ) popped like a gun and exploded glass all over me. Luckily glass nowadays is made to shatter on impact. Two weeks later another bus driver did the same thing except stopped on the initial impact and i was sitting on the right. That is Auckland bus drivers for ya! They don't change, you have to adapt to THEIR environment.

Do bus drivers think when they drive?
Shouldn't they be examples to other drivers in some way?

Not listening to iPods and texting, and smashing up cars and parked trucks.

Oh and VAC, at least it's an aviation related ad melted to the side of your Mum's car. :P jk.

Perhaps these bus drivers should have a go at the bus-simulator game you posted a link to a while ago- sounds like drivers all over the country could do with some practice!

But drivers is what I'm getting at. Sure, you get bad car drivers, but bus drivers are consistently bad.

I dunno I quite like Wellington Bus drivers (the majority are nice especially the one who dropped me off right outside my house for a while) most are good but there are the occasional bad ones

I haven't heard of any bad bus-related accidents here in Rotorua. Mind, they're smaller than your bus from Wellington or Auckland, and there are less of them... :)

I've been on the bus a few times in Rotorua and had the same bus driver a few times who isnt very friendly and puts her foot down when ever possible.
Its almost like taking off and when you go around corners you have to hang on like hell  I have had the occasional good driver but it is rare to now.
Anyway good luck Tom for repairing your mums car.

Yeah i was on a bus home one time who was driving around the Basin Reserve and put it up onto the curb and scraped the bus along a pole of some sort. Later on that journey they hit a tree that was growing on the side of the road and everybody on the bus jumped in reaction to the other side of the bus. What really annoys the :swear: out of me though is how unreliable their service is in wellington! Twice in the past week now I have waited over 40mins for the bus before getting fed up and going and catching the train instead :@ :@ :@

The stupid thing is you can be waiting for your bus which is 20 mins late, in that time 3 or 4 Not In Service buses will go past...

If you think bus drivers are bad, wait till you see Taxi drivers here in CHC. One of them pulled a u-turn on a busy street, didn't give way to anyone, and what makes things worse is he was abusing the other people!

Sorry to hear about your Mum's car, lets hope you don't have to pay to get it fixed, lay it all on the Bus driver.

Well it depends what service. (I'm lucky as I have around 7 different buses that I can catch thus lateness ain't much of a problem for me and one of those routes has buses every 15min and at peak time up to every 5min)

But once (and twice) after hockey me and my mate had to wait 40 mins for a bus which was annoying but these things happen.

For me the majority of bus drivers are nice and the bus arrives and departs on time (but I had an unusual experience, which I won't go into, yesterday)

Anyway I like Wellington bus service. It's always worked for me (although that could be where I live a there are five bus stops for me to use as well as the seven bus routes)
