Hey Deane,
The old A-4 suffered from chainsaw blight.... all I saved was the seat and some of the panels... oh and the HUD. The new one, yep its a T-Bird, need to be able to take a friend flying

Course I need to make friends for that to work

Now as for the "Whitehawks"... You just distract the provos for a bit, I wont be a tick ;-)

just a bit of an update

Mr Beech created a beautiful aeroplane but did he have to build so many CURVES into it?!!
building these canopy arches has had me slowed up quite a bit but I finally hit on the 'tetris' method as can be seen.

fitting some 3mm MDF as a cover

I put a strip of cardboard over the curved area first to get the shape and then straighten it out onto the MDF so as to cut it out

just some general shots of the nose section taking shape

routing out a channel for the wiring for the upper lights and air fans etc

will post some more when I've done more. Have ordered master, usb and some display boards from Opencockpits so once they arrive I can start working on the electronics as well.

Wow, that is pretty damn cool!

I am so glad the skyhawk is mostly straight lines. I envy guys who can work in wood, I'm a steel guy... wood scares me <lol>

I hate wood, in metal work at school today, we stayed in metal class for study and had to work with wood, defiantly prefer metal

Yum no, we were building graphics boards for the teacher, and found out that wood is very..... um.....unforgiving. Where as metal, if you made a hole in it or whatever, you could just go weld it n' grind it

Hell Towerguy,..there is dedication and then there is DEEEEEDICATION !!!,...awesome build mate !!...all i have is a joystick,..soon to upgrade to at least a yoke ,pedals etc.... NZ255,..you tell Ian that he is making less and less sense each day and you are surprised by his reaction....i'd be annoyed as well...,Ian is a big contributer to the flightsim community,..bear that in mind and have a little respect .. :arrr:

hey Towerguy,

Awesome progress so far. Your Sim is going to be extreme.

A bit of advice, my family just brought me a throttle quadrant. How the hell do you program it so that the reverse thusters work?

Hope you can help, have contacted Ch Pro but they haven't even bothered to reply.

from memory there is an article on pete dowsons site (FSUIPC) about how to do this. I think it may have been in the tutorial sections on Flightsim.com as well... other wise google fsuipc and then within results ... 'reverse thrust' etc

have spent the last week working and/or looking after the wife who has hurt her back
in between I managed to get a bit more done toward covering the canopy arches etc

I managed to get a pair of seats from a skyline from the wreckers - $80 for the pair - bit rough but got all the rails and will look okay with a pair of carseat covers

The dog is always ready to help by holding all those pesky sticks

filling and sanding the internal surfaces

hopefully some more over the next week
the electronics arrived the other day - masterboard - usb board - and 3 display boards from opencockpits in spain so I have to start learning how to connect and program those now.
