I want to make a program/exe that will run all my security programs and defrag while I just leave it. I would like this for my cousins pc and for mine. Is there a program where I say I want you to open this program and run pc check, when done close program open another one etc.

I hope you can understand
Thanks

I am sure I read up about a similar program to this once. I will do some research, and get back to you. No promises though!

Each program u proberly use has it own timer and will start at the times you set it ,all you would have to do is work out how long this would take for each one or set them for 12midnight and the other for say 4am ,just depends ,this would do a job nearly the same and better in a way because you are not using yet another program to run another two programs etc ...

For defrag you might like to try IObit Smart Defrag. Works well for me and runs when the computer is not being worked hard. The older version is a little better as it has an optimise feature as well that is not in the later version

Jon: Thanks but that program looks as if it just works when it wants to. It would not be ideal for my computer as it has games running more or less every minute it is on.

In other, probably more simply terms I want a program that I can set up an .exe to run checks a defrags one after the other, when I want i.e. not on a timer.

Brownbox: An luck?

Thanks

How about cobbling together a plain old batch file running each programme from the command line ?

That's how I do my backups. My batch file runs winsin ~10 times each time synching a different folder to the backup drive, and waits while each one completes before starting the next task. Not sure if that's because I'm executing the same programme on every line or if it's properly waiting for each task to finish before running the next line, but it's worth investigating.

Cheers
Gary

You could always try the built-in 'Windows Scheduler'. Start>All Programs>Accessories>System Tools. I don't know how effective it will be, but may be useful to you. :wink2:
