...well Wainui actually.
Taking advantage of the fine weather, the RC modellers were out in the paddock.
I'd heard there would be a Mustang...
(Check out the rego!)
Plenty of toys scattered about

Lovely jet (1) made real jet noises (See video clip below) and smelt like kerosene
Sukhoi (2) gave a convincing aerobatic display, very nicely done scale models of Airtrainer (3) and Trojan (4).
Mustang (5) was very convincing - RC planes can be flown jerkily which always irritated me, this one went nice and smoooth through all its paces, retractible gear too!
Period Dak (6) and the star (7) Sopwith Pup, which spat the dummy and would not run.

This one was there too, and it flies, low and slow, full aerobatics, amazing.

It's a round plank is all.
Makes you wonder about aerodynamic theory and why it took Man so long to fly...

Hey small world (sorry no pun intended) - thanks for posting- my dad is a member of this RC club (he wouldn't of been there when you were there as he is currently touring the South Island) - I also know the guy who owns the Pup (I think I posted a pic of it about a year ago along with the jet model pictured above) & the flying chipmunk.

I have also flown my own RC aircraft (and crashed! :( ) from this strip.

I couldn' tremember the details of your post, sorry.
Happy to say no crashes witnessed there, although I couldn't stay longer than an hour or so...
Wasn't there a giant 4-engined something in the making by sime dedicated club member?

Thanks for the link, enjoyed wasting a whole hour :o skipping from one Youtube to another from Trolly's post there.
There is a brilliant A340 to be seen there, it looks and behaves like an airliner, not a scale model.
